“Take every chance, drop every fear and always reach for the stars!”
This week has been anti-bullying week and the girls have been learning about what bullying is and how it should be stopped. The Year 6s were given the task of writing a poem in response to the phrase: “No! You can’t join in!” The girls were asked to write a poem about how someone else would feel, therefore showing empathy. The girls produced some outstanding poems and the following poem from Isobel Lansdown literally brought a tear to many an eye.

We have been having fun with recycling, making junk models, sorting rubbish on a pretend conveyor belt and learning related songs. This was supported by a visit from Kathryn Best, the RBWM Marketing Manager for Recycling and Waste who talked to the children about waste and the meaning of recycling. Did you know that a third of the waste collected by the Borough is food and 80% of our household waste is recyclable?!

NATIONAL SHOEBOX APPEAL - Junior Girls only
The Junior girls (Reception - Year 6) are taking part in the National Shoebox Appeal. Your class representative will be contacting you regarding suitable items to donate. Please do not feel obliged to take part in both this and the hamper collection below.
CHRISTMAS HAMPER COLLECTIONS
Please note that we will be holding our usual collection of non-perishable items in order that we can make up Christmas Hampers which the Maidenhead branch of the Salvation Army will distribute to local elderly and needy families. We are suggesting each Year group follows the theme below:
· Nursery - Biscuits
· Lower Juniors – Fruit Cakes
· Upper Junior - Toiletries / Non-alcoholic beverages including tea/coffee
· Years 7 & 8 - Luxury Items
· Years 9 & 10 - Tin Food/Preserves
· Year 11 - Novelty Items
The items should be brought in to School during next two week period Monday 23 November through Friday 4 December 2015. Our Year 10 'Christmas Elves' will then make up the hampers for collection.
Christmas Jumper Day - Thursday 10 December: Wear a festive jumper for the day and save children's lives by donating £1

DRAMA NEWS
Junior Christmas Production
We have sent home a reply slip to all the Junior Girls asking for parents to let us know if they are coming to the Christmas production. Replies to be returned to school by Monday 30 November.
All girls need full costumes for rehearsal next Tuesday 24 November. As a reminder please see details below:
Elves in bright colours/pointy hat and shoes. Ermine, Elf 2 & 3 to wear gold name badges (we will supply these).
MI6 cast should wear smart suits, ties, glasses etc.
U and K/assistants to wear white lab coats and safety goggles (we will supply).
Reindeer to wear a brown top/leggings/antlers/large red nose.
Demo children wear everyday casual clothes.
O 'Connor twins firstly wear suits the same as the MI6 cast. They change into a Santa suit and Elf costume during track 8.
Real Santa in traditional red and white suit/hat and a long white beard.
Substitute Santa's are all as Santa although their costumes can look dirty and dishevelled. Substitute Santa 3 also has a black beard.
Henchmen 1-2 can wear dark coloured boiler suits (we will provide these).
Scary monger to wear a black suit/white turtle neck jumper/she can walk with a limp and use a walking stick.
RAFFLE!!!! Fancy a new bike this Christmas or a potential Christmas gift
Have you seen the bike in the Atrium? We are raffling it off at the end of the production on Thursday 3 December after the 2pm performance. All proceeds are going back into Drama department for future productions. The Year 6 girls will be selling the tickets during break and lunch times and the cost per ticket is £1.00 or £4.00 for a strip of five.
LAMDA
The Upper Junior girls in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been given a letter explaining about Lamda - the reply slip to be returned by 4 December.
Blood Brothers Theatre Trip – Saturday 21 November
Girls to meet Mrs Warren between 3.30pm and 3.45pm outside The Theatre Royal Windsor. Please collect your daughter from the theatre at 6.30pm.
LIBRARY

Travelling Book Fair
A huge thank you to all those who started their Christmas shopping at the recent book fair. The fair was a great success and raised a healthy commission for our Libraries. Student Reading Panel meetings will be held before the held of term to help decide how the money will be spent, so watch this space for Panel meeting dates…
HOLIDAY CLUB
Holiday Club for all children aged 3 and above has 'Five days of Christmas' themed activities this coming holiday (Thu 17 to Wed 23 Dec)… for games, crafts, cookery, fun and challenges, as well as a special visitor - all at College Ave/Junior Girls site. Xtra for children in year 5 and above also brings festive Cookery and Crafts.
Sports Club offers two days of Football (Mon 21 & Tue 22 Dec) for a chance to work on skills and join tournaments at the Junior Boys site - for children in years 3 and above.
Book by Fri 4 Dec to get the 'best rate'... free extended sessions for CC pupils (exc. nursery), a hot lunch option (HC only) and no late booking charge.
