2. Lee represented perfection by some historians, almost like marble.
The Great Surrender
Lee and his troops were forced to surrender to Grant on April 9, 1865 because his soldiers were starving, exhausted, and out of supplies. The great general surrendered at the Appomattox Court House.

Lee married Mary Ann Randolph Curtis. Together they had eight children.
