A Message from Principal Purfurst
I wanted to take a moment to encourage all of you to cast your ballots in this fall’s mid-term election!
Ballots will be mailed to registered voters beginning on Monday, October 17th. October 17th is also the date that 24-Hour Drop Box Locations open as well. You can find the Drop Box location nearest to you at this link - https://www.adamsvotes.com/ballot-drop-boxes/.
A reminder again to check your voter registration to be sure that your voter registration is current, or if you are new to Colorado, register to vote. Colorado is a mail in ballot state and your address must be correct for you to receive your ballot.
You can check your voter registration information and/or register to vote at http://www.govotecolorado.com/.
27J Schools has a mill levy override question (5B) on the ballot. We encourage you to read your sample ballot available to you on this website, do your research on the issues and candidates, and vote!
As you know, 27J Schools had a bond and a mill levy override question on the ballot last November. The bond was successful. The mill levy override was not.
Of the 75,213 registered voters in 27J Schools boundaries, only 26,242 or 34.89% voted in last November’s election. See the election summary here.
The Go Vote Colorado website is very user friendly. Updating your voter information or registering to vote takes just minutes. All you need to register to vote is your Social Security Number or your Colorado Driver’s License.

Your Vote Counts!
An Update from Dean Hawkins
Safety Information:
We practiced our October evacuation drill last week. Staff and students again did an incredible job evacuating and accounting for all of our students very quickly. We did notice in the office that families were still trying to check their students into school while the drill was beginning. Moving forward, we want to make sure that you are aware of the fact that we will not allow students or families into the building until the drill has been concluded. There will be a sign on the front doors informing all that we are in the process of a drill. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about any of the safety drills we practice at Padilla!
Parking Lot Reminders:
Thank you for your help with the use of our crosswalks in front of and behind the bus lanes. We appreciate you avoiding walking through the buses in order to pick up your students.
Preschool parents: Please note that our Kindergarten families need the horseshoe drop off for their students as doors open for all K-5 students at 7:30. Preschool parents, please park in the lot instead of the horseshoe if you are waiting to drop your preschooler off at 7:50. This allows all of our kindergarten parents the opportunity to drop their students off and also relieves the congestion now and what we expect when the weather becomes cooler. Thank you for your help with this!
Community Survey: If you haven’t had an opportunity to share with us your thoughts about how we can involve our Padilla Community more, we encourage you to take some time to fill out our very quick survey. Survey Link Here
Guardians on Guard:
Through our community survey, we are aware of the desire for our community to be involved more in an everyday setting! With that, we would like to invite all that are interested to help ensure the safety of our students before school, after school or during lunch recess. We are always looking for more adult supervision during these unstructured times in our daily schedule and would welcome anyone that has time to help! If you are interested in volunteering your time at any point during the school day for Guardians on Guard, please reach out to Josh Hawkins at your convenience!
