Hello GES Parents,

This has been a fantastic school year! It seems like only yesterday we were welcoming our students to school to begin an exciting school year. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with our families to ensure the academic and social-emotional success of all our students! I am so proud of our students and teachers! Go Mustangs!

Please make sure to take time and reflect on this past school year, and setting goals for the upcoming year. It is important that you assist your child in practicing school skills in fun ways. Writing letters, keeping a diary, reading daily, and playing math games will help to avoid the “summer slide” which educators often refer to. Helping your child exercise their brain daily will allow them to come back to school in the fall ready to learn!

Be sure your summer fun includes spending time outside; fishing, running, biking, swimming, rafting and making choices using free time in creative ways. Children grow in so many ways; we need to be sure they have time to balance it all.

Just a reminder, that the first day of school for students is Monday, August 22. I am extremely proud and grateful to the GES staff who work so hard to provide quality instruction as well as positive behavior support for all of our students. I'd also like to thank our community for your continued partnership and support. Thank you again for such a wonderful year and as always, thank you for your support!

I wish you all a safe, happy summer vacation.

Kind Regards,

Mr. Michael Seefried, Principal

Counselor's Corner

Cheers to us all for finishing strong this year! I want to first and foremost celebrate all of the things our kids have achieved over this school year. They have grown academically but they have also grown in how they treat others, how they manage their conflicts, ask for help, show integrity, and problem-solving therefore making our schools and community a great place to be! I feel so much gratitude for playing my role in our student's development and I greatly appreciate all that our families do to support us. It takes a village, we are that village!

Good luck to my 5th-grade families as you embark on a whole new journey into middle school! The past 6 years have been amazing watching these kids go from little kindergartners to big pre-teen (yikes!) kiddos! Thank you for your support over all of these years and the wild ride of COVID in between!

Free Summer Meals

Kids eat free in the summer! The Summer Food Service Program provides FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to any child 18 and younger. There is no application or ID required to get a free meal. Meals will be available outside of GCS during Summer Experience, Monday- Thurs. 6/5/22- 7/21/22. There is no meal service July 4. Breakfast is from 8-8:30 AM and lunch is 11:30-12PM. Please note, this year kids must eat on site and parents cannot pick up meals for their children. We look forward to serving all kids this summer!

Remember, in the 2022-23 school year, meals are no longer free to all students. Please read this important information (en espagnol) about the free and reduced meals application, funding your mypaymentsplus account, and applying for SNAP benefits.

Questions? Please contact Kristen Osborn,

Student Medications

With summer right around the corner, we wanted to remind families of students that have medication stored at school to make arrangements to come get their medications before the end of the school year. We will not store any student's medication over the summer. Also, all student medication orders will expire June 30th. You can download medication permission documents for the 22-23 school year here and permission to self carry here. As a reminder, any medication given at school must have a medication permission form signed by a medical provider, so we won't accept student medications in the fall that are not accompanied by a complete, signed medication permission form. If you have questions you can contact Angel Hartzell, GCS Health Aide ( or Sherilyn Skokan ( GWSD District Nurse. Have a happy (and healthy) summer!
