Remote Learning Resources

We are a few weeks into the 2020-21 school year. We hope that parents and students have started to feel more comfortable with the remote learning process.

There are a few valuable resources for remote learning we'd like to make you aware of!

  1. Student Technology Hotline
Students and parents may contact 847-270-9039 if you require assistance with your district-issued device. Hotline representatives are in place and will be able to provide you with assistance in a timely manner.

  2. Remote Learning Video/Instruction Tutorials
Several video and instructional tutorials are available to parents and students at These resources provide guidance on Canvas, Infinite Campus, Zoom, and more! We greatly appreciate feedback - let us know if you would like to see additional topics covered on this resource page.

As always, please contact your child's teacher or school administration if you have specific questions related to remote learning. We are here to help!

Remote Learning Planning Day on Friday, September 18

Please note that Friday, September 18 will be used as a Remote Learning Planning Day for staff. No instruction or issuing of new assignments will take place on this day. Students may use this day to catch up on reviewing recorded lessons and/or completing assignments if they wish.

Health & Safety Measures at District Offices and Schools

Any visitors to RLAS-116 district offices and schools should first schedule an appointment. All staff and visitors are required to wear a face covering while inside the building and/or when not able to socially distance by at least 6 feet while on district property.

Additionally, effective Monday, September 14, all staff and visitors will be required to complete a health screening, including a temperature check. Any staff or visitor answering yes to COVID-19 screening questions and/or have a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be permitted inside district offices and schools.

Student Residency Analysis

RLAS-116 will conduct an electronic audit of family addresses this month. This process is used to confirm that students enrolled at RLAS-116 reside within the established RLAS-116 boundaries.

Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending RLAS-116. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact Eric Apgar, Director of Student Services, at

Food Service Program for Students During Remote Learning

Since the initial closures in March, RLAS-116 has been serving Grab-n-Go meals (breakfast and lunch) to students using a drive-through model. This program has been enhanced for the 2020-2021 school year.

On every school day during remote learning, Grab-n-Go meals will be served to RLAS-116 students. Families may pick up meals for registered students 8am-12pm at Beach, Ellis, Indian Hill, Murphy, Village, John T. Magee Middle School, Round Lake Middle School, and Round Lake High School. You do not need to go to your specific school to pick up meals. For example, if you have three children attending three separate schools, you can pick up meals for all three children at one location. When arriving for pick up, families will be asked to provide their child's name and school of attendance.

Additionally, 12 school buses have been placed within the community each school day, 8am-12pm, to serve as mobile meal distribution sites. We are hopeful that this will provide a more convenient service to our families. Mobile meal distribution sites include:

  • Countryside Ln, Round Lake Beach
  • Nicole Ln & Karen Ln, Round Lake Beach
  • Quaker Hollow Ln & Silver Oaks Dr, Round Lake Beach
  • Cedar Villas Apartments, Round Lake Beach
  • Meadow Green Ln, Round Lake Beach
  • Whitewood Park & Hickory Ln, Round Lake
  • Beverly Dr & Golfview Ct, Round Lake Beach
  • Long Lake Dr & Nasa Cir, Round Lake
  • Round Lake Park Village Hall, Round Lake Park
  • Rosewood Apartments, Round Lake
  • Timber Creek Dr, Round Lake Park
  • Wildspring Rd & Weeping Willow Rd, Round Lake

Preschool children will be provided with a monthly bundled pack of non-perishable snacks. Snacks may be picked up at Village Elementary School at the start of each month, 8am-12pm.

If you have questions regarding the Food Service Program, please contact Heather Bennett, Executive Director of Engagement & Community Relations, at

School Fees

Please be sure that school fees for the 2020-2021 school year are paid, at least in part, this month. Any family interested in arranging a payment plan may do so by contacting your child's school office. A list of 2020-2021 school fees are available on the district's website.

School Board Meetings Return to In-Person

School Board meetings have been held virtually since March 2020. We look forward to returning to an in-person meeting structure later this month. Beginning Monday, September 21, Board of Education meetings will be held at the John T. Magee Middle School Cafeteria.

Members of the public are welcomed and encouraged to attend these public meeting. Social distancing and capacity guidelines will be adhered to.
