Book Fair was Groovy Fun for All!!!
Mrs. Rumker designed a fun filled week for us in preparation for the Book Fair. Students dressed up in Tie-Dye one day, and wore Wacky Hair the next day! The Book Fair was held on Thursday night, March 17, and then the following day it remained open so that grandparents could shop while they were at school celebrating Grandparent's Day. The gross amount sold was $9,277!!! The profit for our library was $1,600 in books and $1,360 in cash (to be used for future book purchases in the library.) We appreciate Mrs. Rumker, and her hard work to make our Book Fair so successful.
Grandparents Enjoy Painting with Their Grandchildren!
A Day in K
This traditional event is always so fun for students and their parents, and most of all, it helps to alleviate "school jitters" for our incoming kindergarten students. This year we hosted 104 students! We are looking forward to next year!
Literacy Committee Update
Several times throughout the year two teachers from each grade level meet with Becky Lea and Mikelle O'Neal, our Literacy Coaches, to vertically align literacy expectations throughout the elementary grades. During the last meeting they reviewed their vision and goals, and have created LR Comprehensive Literacy posters that will hang in every classroom next fall. This group looks at various student writing samples and they help to develop grade level scoring rubrics. They discussed their assessment plan, and protocol for administering writing assessments. Another discussion item was keeping the student growth momentum up as students move from grade to grade, because we must insure that we are continually improving!
Reading and Writing are paramount to everything that we do in the Primary School, so we are thankful to have this team leading the way, and helping to keep all of us informed of best practices!
