Movie Night Update
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Bulldog Families,
I hope that you all enjoyed fall break and found some time to relax and enjoy family and fall. Most of our parent-teacher conferences have been held, and we are continuing our learning journey into our second nine weeks. Please continue to partner with your child’s teacher regarding your student’s progress. Please let us know how we can support any academic or social needs for your student. We would like to thank our families and PTO who donated snacks and dinner during parent-teacher conferences; teachers are still expressing gratitude regarding this thoughtful gesture.
The second phase of our renovation is proceeding as planned and the end of November will bring the conclusion of phase two. Over fall break acoustic panels were installed in the cafeteria, and the majority of our main parking lot was milled and resurfaced. Fanning Howey, Boyle Construction, HSE Facilities, and our NBE PTO continue to collaborate with us and support our needs during this transitional time.
Three possible scenarios have been released to stakeholders, and we need your input. Please consider taking a few minutes to complete an online survey. Your opinions and views will ensure that we develop the best redistricting plan for our students. The survey will close on November 2 at 8:00 a.m. If you would like more information about our redistricting process please access the HSE website.
As fall arrives, we are typically well underway with our annual science fair planning and promotion. Due to a variety of factors, we have made the decision to take a year off from this event. We will not host science fair this year, but we plan to revisit this activity for our 2018-2019 school year. We do encourage you to come to our Family STEM Night on Tuesday, November 7 from 6:30-8:00p.m. This will be a great way to promote the importance of and engage in science, technology, engineering, and math activities with your student(s).
Our nature lab team, several teachers, and a few classes are hard at work in redesigning our nature lab. We are still in need of donations and supplies for our nature lab to help provide a space for learning, observing, thinking and growing. If you have contacts or relationships with any local businesses or organizations that would be willing to donate large rocks (boulder sized - not paving or path filler) to our nature lab, please contact Mrs. Mankin at lmankin@hse.k12.in.us.
As always, thank you for partnering with us in education. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin
Nature's Classroom - Nature Lab Work Day 10/27
We are dreaming of how we can update our outdoor space to create "Nature's Classroom" right here at our school! We are looking for some help with donations from businesses and community partners of items like lumber, labor, boulders, tree cookies, etc. to make some of these upgrades. We also have several “building/wood-working” projects that will need to occur so if you are handy, please consider helping us with our work. If you know of anyone who may be interested in donating or partnering with us, please feel free to contact Stacy Peters (speters@hse.k12.in.us) or Lori Mankin (lmankin@hse.k12.in.us) or by phone at 317-594-4130. Thank you so much for considering!

Square One Art Order Forms are Here!
Dear Families at New Britton!
Are you looking for a unique gift for the holidays? Do you wish you could display your child's art in special, creative ways? Great news, our students are participating in SquareOne Art again this year. Your PTO and art teacher Ms. Smith partner with SquareOne Art to create amazing works of art that you can order on magnets, coffee cups, serving plates, jewelry, and more! Look for order forms to come home with your child on: Friday, October 26.
All orders need to be submitted back to school by: November 9.
Information to order online is included in your child's art packet.
Items will be delivered to your child at school on: December 5.
If you need your online order code, please contact Jessica McCracken at jessbelles04@gmail.com.
Consider ordering a decorative serving plate to display at family gatherings, a piece of jewelry to proudly display in the work place, a mousepad to have on your desk, an apron to wear in the kitchen, and there are so many ideas in the catalog! Proceeds from this sale benefit the New Britton PTO, which in turn benefits our children and teachers.
