All that cities are a essencial part of the book, and on each happens something relacionated with Esther.
For example, Vilna is where she lived before being deported, Poland is the country and Rubtsovsk is the town where she lived after being working in the steppe.
CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY
SOVIET UNION
the Soviet Union describes the geographic features of the countries of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The Soviet Union was the largest country in the world, covering approximately one sixth of the earth's land surface.
Notorious cold and long winters have, understandably, been the focus of discussions on the Soviet Union's weather and climate. From the frozen depths of Siberia have come baby mammoths perfectly preserved, locked in ice for several thousand years. Millions of square kilometers experience half a year of subfreezing temperatures and snow cover over subsoil that is permanently frozen in places to depths of several hundred meters.
POLAND
Poland is a country in East-Central Europe with an area of 312,679 square kilometres (120,726 sq. mi.), and mostly temperate climate.[1] Generally speaking, Poland is an almost unbroken plain reaching from the Baltic Seain the north, to the Carpathian Mountains in the south. Within that plain, terrain variations run in bands east to west.
Polands climate can be described as a temperate climate with relatively cold winters and warm summers, which is greatly influenced by oceanic air currents from the west, cold polar air from Scandinavia and Russia, as well as warmer, sub-tropical air from the south.
GERMANY
Germany is a country in west-central Europe, that stretches from the Alps, across the North European Plain to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Germany has the second largest population in Europe (after the European part of Russia) and isseventh largest in area. The territory of Germany covers 357,021 km2 (137,847 sq mi), consisting of 349,223 km2(134,836 sq mi) of land and 7,798 km2 (3,011 sq mi) of waters.
Germany's climate is moderate and has generally no longer periods of cold or hot weather. Northwestern and coastalGermany have a maritime influenced climate which is characterized by warm summers and mild cloudy winters. Most areas on the country's North Sea coast have midwinter temperatures about 1.5°C or even higher.
