SWS Update: Early January
Happy New Year!
Here's to 2020!!
I hope you enjoyed your winter break with the family! It is great to have the kids back in action and back to our regular routine.
Part of that regular routine is outdoor recess--keep in mind that it needs to be extremely cold for the kids to have indoor recess, and usually it means we have a 15 minute outdoor recess. Getting the kids out and moving, allowing them to relax with friends and expend some energy is key to a smooth day...imagine having 25 kids at your house all day long, that may help you to understand the need to get them outside!! Please send your child ready for outdoor recess...if you send them to school in shorts, they are going outside in shorts!
Giving Basket--our giving basket this year was a complete success! Thanks to those of you who were able to help out and make the holiday season a bit brighter for many of our Starkweather families. I love seeing those gift tags disappear and this year we had 100% completion. Keep in mind that we are always in need of gift cards for grocery stores and clothes stores for families, and if you would like to support our PBIS program, we could also use some small gift cards to Wawa or Starbucks as incentives for the program. Thanks!!
Long Weekend--
On Friday, January 17th, we have a 1/2 day for students. Dismissal starts around 12:00.
On Monday, January 20th, school is closed for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day.
Enjoy the extra time with the kids!
See you soon,
Mr. Meanix

SWEETHEART BREAKFAST
Last names A-L: February 7
Last names M-Z: February 14
Breakfast is served from 8:15-9 am.
As we have done in the past, one sweetheart per family.
Save the date & be on the look out for a link coming soon to RSVP!
If you haven't already done so or you are new to Starkweather, families need to register to get access to our directory and much more!!
We are currently using Membership Toolkit, instead of MySchoolAnywhere, as our PTO communications and directory website. We use this site not only for our SWS directory, but also for online purchases & event sales, homeroom fee payments, eblasts, and other communications. You don't want to miss out!
Just go to www.starkweatherpto.membershiptoolkit.com to register and update your information. Then, you can download the app and have access to all the features.
Here's what you need to do:
- Go to www.starkweatherpto.membershiptoolkit.com.
- Click on the Register/Login button.
- If you already have an account with another organization that uses Membership Toolkit you can use the same email and password to login. You can then proceed to the numbered steps below.
- Select "Create Account" and fill in the name, email, and password information.
- Click "verify my email" and then check your email for a link to complete the process. The link expires in 2 hours. If you do not receive the email, check your spam or junk folders.
- Once you have verified your email address, log back in and finish the registration process.
- Complete the Parent/Family and Student Information.
- Complete the Directory/Publish Preferences.
- Once these forms are complete, you will have access to the published school directory.
- If you haven't done so, you can pay your homeroom dues online, simply go to the store and add the amount of students to the PTO/Homeroom dues form; then, add to the cart and check out.
Once the Primary Account is set up, the Primary User can "invite" other email addresses to access his/her account. This allows the Secondary User to have their own login information, but still have access to the family account.

FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION...yep, now is the time!!
Have a little one at home? Will he or she be 5 years old before Sept 1, 2020? Now is the time to register for the 2020-2021 school year!
Click NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION to complete the online portion of the registration. Once that is complete, Mrs. Pitt will reach out to finalize the process. When you come in to sign off, you will be able to sign up for a Kindergarten Family Tour and Kindergarten Student Assessments, too.
Questions? Reach out to Mari Pitt at 484-266-2202 or mpitt@wcasd.net.
Health Screening Results--now available!
Each year, Mrs. Doyle and Mr. Dando screen students for Vision, Hearing, Body Mass Index, and Scoliosis, depending on their grade level.
Those results are now available. Log into the PARENT PORTAL, click on the 'health screening tab' along the left hand side of the parent page, and you should be able to see your child's information.
Questions about the results or how to find them? Contact Mrs. Janet Doyle at jdoyle@wcasd.net or 484-266-2206.
Holiday Concerts...an awesome time!!
We were PACKED with friends and families for our Holiday Concerts! Our Band, led by Mrs. Cooper, Chorus, led by Mr. Morrison, and our Orchestra, led by Mrs. Park, did a fantastic job with our school assembly. In the evening, their performance for the families was truly awesome!
Then, just before break, we had former students and friends from Rustin come for their annual holiday visit. They wowed the kids with all sorts of exciting musical action, including upside down drummers in their marching band--yes, you read that correctly!
