Longhorn Update
Sendera Ranch Elementary, Northwest ISD
10/15/2021
Welcome back to ALL of our Students!
With that our COVID Protocols are updating next Monday, October 18th. Dr. Warren sent a message out to families on Wednesday in his Superintendent Update. You can access the district Health and Safety Protocols to view all details.
For Sendera Ranch Elementary, here are some of the most pertinent updates:
- Indoor School Events Resuming: Beginning Monday, October 18, indoor school events will resume. This will include activities such as PTA meetings, award ceremonies, and assemblies.
- Visitors on Campus: The update to our Health and Safety Protocols also includes a tiered system that allows volunteers and visitors in our schools if the risk of COVID transmission is low (positive cases less than 5% of the total campus population, including both students and staff). As a precaution, we have not been allowing visitors in our schools as we monitored and adjusted protocols for the first nine weeks of school. I know this is something our parents have been missing – especially at the elementary level. Based on our schools’ current percentages of positive cases, all schools will be able to open their doors to visitors and volunteers when our new protocols take effect on October 18th.
- Visitors at Lunch: Each NISD school is unique, with different student enrollment counts, schedules, and cafeteria arrangements. Our schools have analyzed their lunchrooms and available space to determine the best process and separate seating area for safely allowing lunch visitors. Our schools have different processes and different capacities for lunchtime visitors, so please follow the specific instructions your school will communicate in order to safely eat lunch with your child.
You read that right! For our campus, we are asking that parents SIGN UP for a day to eat lunch with your child(ren). If you have students in multiple grades, you will need to sign up for their specific lunch times. You may bring outside food for you and your child(ren). We will have designated tables for you. Based on our space and to allow for social distancing, we are currently limiting our number of guests per day per lunch. So, please make sure you sign up before heading this way.
Thank you for your support as we continue to take steps to transition to what we know school to be like.
Have a great weekend!

NEWS
Old Texan Fieldhouse to be used as COVID PCR testing site
Northwest ISD has partnered with GeneIQ to use Old Texan Fieldhouse as a drive-through COVID PCR testing site for the community at large. Each COVID PCR test is free, though more extensive testing will be billed to an individual’s insurance.
Students, families, staff and community members can all receive COVID testing in the parking lot in front of Old Texan Fieldhouse without exiting their vehicles. All testing is administered by GeneIQ personnel, while Northwest ISD is only providing its location for use as the testing facility. Patients with symptoms will have the option of a regular COVID-19 PCR test or a combination test called COVID+, that tests for COVID-19, Flu A & B, and RSV.
Testing takes place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. When Northwest ISD Stadium hosts a game, the drive-through testing service will close at 5 p.m. to assist in game-day traffic. To be eligible for a COVID test, the individual being tested must exhibit symptoms or be classified as a close contact. Registration is required; individuals in need of testing can register on location or at www.mycovidappointment.com.
