Sunday News from the Preschool
Stay in. Stay Well.
Messages from Mrs. Kilday
Hello Rodman families.
I hope you are all well and hanging in there. Our newsletter this week is packed with some good resources.I hope you find it helpful. I know the need to go out is huge, but please keep sheltering at home for a bit longer. We want all of our families and friends to stay safe.
Thank you for sending pictures of your children for the newsletter. Everyone seems to enjoy this piece. If you haven't sent one yet, please do. You can email it right to me at kildayd@cantonma.org.
If your child is on an IEP, and now has a remote learning plan, the teachers will be reaching out to schedule your virtual sessions. Please take the time to respond promptly. They are trying to create times that work for many families and want to be sure they meet all needs. We appreciate your help with this.

Hello Rodman Families!
I’d like to start my message with a quote from my favorite philosopher, Mr. Rogers:
“All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we’re giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That’s one of the things that connects us as neighbors—in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver.”- Fred Rogers
Mr. Rogers is right. We need our neighbors, our community, in order to help each other get through these difficult times. And your Rodman community is here to help if you need it.
As the school psychologist, I used to spend my day visiting our classrooms and helping support the social emotional wellbeing of each of our students. I know all our students, and teachers often came to me for suggestions when children were having trouble. Now that we’re all at home, I invite our parents and guardians to do the same. If your child or family are struggling, please reach out for support. And as Mr. Rogers reminds us, asking for help is not a sign of weakness. You are all doing an amazing job keeping your families happy and healthy!
Some reasons to reach out could include an extra anxious child or an increase in sibling conflicts. Or you could be looking to consult about daily schedules and routines. Whatever your questions, I host virtual office hours each weekday from 10-11am and 1-2pm via email. I also am available for more personal consultations via phone or zoom if you contact me through email first, russoa@cantonma.org.
Equally important, I’d love to hear from families that are doing well at home. I’d love to hear what is working for your family, or any resources you’ve come across. Maybe you’ve found something that can help our greater Rodman community. Because it really does take a village!
In this spirit, next week we are also starting Rodman parent/caregiver zoom meetings. Our goal is to provide a space where you can come together as a community of parents and caregivers. Come share your triumphs and your frustrations in navigating our new stay-at-home lifestyle. Maybe you’ll learn a helpful tip from another parent, or maybe your support will help reassure another family that they are doing okay. Please click this link to register if you are interested in joining us.
Be well,
Anna Russo
