A Distant End
The World is not in our Hands...
What that flag means to me...
B) Reciting words that I'm unable to say, like mimes
A) The promises it gives have actually corrupted our freedoms which we don't understand
B) Each and everyday is like an old man reading in the New York Times
C) Religiously reading nothing but false truths and covered up stories
D) This is exactly how I feel when I am almost forced to pledge to nonexistent freedoms
C) To look at this flag with its "holy" white and blood stained red lines of honorable glories
D) When in the bible it is forbidden to pledge to any other but Gods Kingdoms
E) Oh well though, we've got nothing to lose in the end
F) The word freedom, its meaning very limited and owned by the government
E) Once they use this word on us, our wills cannot bend
F) However my will is cannot be tamed by anyone, my temperament
G) They may try to kill me for the difference in opinion in which I'm living
G) But they know that in these lands they've taken, that this isn't that land of the Giving

Living Through Despair
Even before the existence of humans, there was always the balance of good and evil. In the time that has transgressed through human history, society has many aspects that make it somewhat dystopian today. Thousands of wars have occurred through the existence of humans. The World wars, Vietnam, and the Iraq wars have happened rather simultaneously due to disagreements in governments regarding how human beings should live. America constantly fights with other countries because of their choice in government, thus thousands of lives have been lost to achieve this never-ending goal. Even our "righteous and liberty-having" American government today is somewhat an aspect of dystopian culture. Many of our supposedly "God-given" rights are not truly given to the people and are often twisted against us. Rodney King was wrongfully beaten to death by the police and received no justice for it. This is only a fraction of the examples that described the horrors of the very justice that is supposed to protect the lives of us today. Besides America, there is no true government that is just for its people. Many countries are dominated by harsh tyrannical rulers. One person that infamously comes to mind is Adolf Hitler. Hitler is responsible for murder of millions of Jewish people during World War 2. Or the events of September 11th 2001, in which Osama Bin Laden lead the attack on the world trade center. These events in tandem have left huge scars on this world today. Bin Laden’s decisions will forever impact the rules and regulations for the safety of the survival and future of mankind. It is truly unfortunate how one person can really make a difference in our world today. Imagine the world without this incident? How different will it be? Will it be a better place? Or has this impact made the world realize the power we have at our disposal, and that we contain it? I personally believe that things happen for a reason, and that tragedies are going to happen regardless of the time at which it occurs. In conclusion this world is full of despair and dystopia. Aside from speaking about government and unforgivable killings, there is constant famine, drought, rape, murders, etc. every day. There will never be a time where this world will be at peace, not even for one second. People have to live, and people have to die. Good makes its way to the world, but so does evil. The world would have to stand still in order for a blessing to truly happen to us. A utopia is an imagined haven of perfection. This is a place that can only reside in our hopes and dreams. This is why we do have people like Martin Luther King, Ghandi, and Susan B. Anthony. They have made their dreams reality, and have imposed good deeds into this world that forever allowed people to live gradually more peaceful. These people may longer reside in this world, but they are residing in their own utopias.
Rally of Freedom
On December 10th, 2013, the Suwanee government has instructed the citizens of the United States to walk into the streets to remember all of the freedom they have given up for a better society. People are expected to create posters and flyers to remind each other what they have lost and to recognize what they have now. However, the people instead will do the opposite and instead of walking, they will march for their individual freedoms. The government knows that the people have strength in numbers, and will be forced reconsider their actions.

The Light Before We Land
In cases such as these I'd like a hand
Don't wake me up without a master plan
With sight and sound becoming fragile
Don't you understand ?
When things that once were beautiful
Are bland
And when I feel like I can feel once again
Let me stay awhile
Soak it in awhile
If we can hold on we can fix what is wrong
Buy a little time
For this head of mine
Haven for us
In truth there is no better place to be
Than falling out of darkness still to see
Without a premonition
Could you tell me where we stand ?
I'd hate to lose this light
Before we land
And when I feel like I can feel once again
Let me stay awhile
Soak it in awhile
If we can hold on we can fix what is wrong
Buy a little time
For this head of mine
Haven for us
Before we let euphoria
Convince us we are free
Remind us how we used to feel
Before when life was real
And when I feel like I can feel once again
Let me stay awhile
Soak it in awhile
If we can hold on we can fix what is wrong
Buy a little time
For this head of mine
Haven for us
"The Light Before We Land" sung by The Delgados is a perfect song for the dystopian theme that 1984 brings to the reader. One verse in the song: "And when I feel like I can feel once again, Let me stay a while, Soak it in a while, If we hold on we can fix what’s wrong" states how the Delgados wants to be happy like she used to. We can relate this to a person living in a post-dystopian world as if they were losing hope and having nostalgia about the past. Another verse: "In truth there is no better place to be, Than falling out of darkness still to see", means to me that the singer is being sarcastic about living in a darken and corrupted world. One final verse: “Without a premonition, could you tell me where we stand, I’d hate to lose this light before we land” further adds on to the fact that the Delgados doesn’t want to lose hope in the state of living she is in. Overall, I believe that this song accurately can describe a dystopian theme because one characteristic of dystopia is a lost hope in society. People living in a dystopia may endure harsh rulers with over controlling and corrupt laws. People may be killed on the spot for a simple difference in the dominant dystopian society. All of this may cause someone like Winston, the main character from the book 1984 to lose hope in society. Winston knew that he was incapable of fighting the government and began to lose hope even in the future generations that his society was raising.
