Three Part Anxiety Series - Month of April
Good morning Everyone,
FCSS is hosting a Three Part Anxiety Series by Dr Caroline Buzanko, some of you may remember her from last year when she came up in person to present at the Shell Theatre.
Dr Caroline has done three pre-recorded sessions that are available for the month of April. Once you register the YouTube Link and handouts are emailed to you and you can watch at your own leisure. The three sessions are:
Part 1: Understanding and Addressing Anxiety
In part one of this series, we will explore the difference between normal worries and anxiety disorders, how anxiety shows up, and the fundamental core of anxiety - critical knowledge for effectively supporting anxious children and teens. We will also uncover the common traps that even the most caring adults can stumble into that inadvertently strengthen anxiety and what you can start doing immediately instead to promote children's and teens' resilience.
Part 2: Emotional Intelligence for Children and Teens
In part two of this series, we delve into the function of emotions and offer insights on becoming an effective emotion coach for children and teens when big emotions show up. We cover essential strategies to enhance emotion regulation and resilience and tactics to outsmart anxiety's deceptive tricks.
Part 3: Empowering Responses to Anxiety for Youth
In our final video, learn how to empower children and teens to confront their anxieties with confidence, enhancing cognitive flexibility, and effective problem-solving. Discover the transformative power of daring and defying anxiety, building resilience, and fostering a mindset of risk-taking and committed action to support thriving and long-term well-being.
These sessions are great for teachers, caregivers, individuals who work with children/youth and there is even some great understanding and tips for those who work with adults.
