Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Families,
It was another wonderful week at Lions Park! The students were excited to dress up for the spirit days, and we enjoyed seeing their creativity and individuality shine through. The Knots of Love event was a wonderful example of the special community we have at our school. It was heartwarming watching current students, former students, staff and families spending time together doing something to help sick children in memory of Lauren Graver.
We will be doing IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) testing next week in third-fifth grades. These tests are an important opportunity for our children to show all they are learning in school. You can help your child to do his or her personal best by doing the items listed below.
- Please talk with your child about putting forth their best effort on the test.
- The IAR testing will take place between March 13th and 15th. Students will be tested in reading and math.
- Check with your child that they have headphones at school.
- Please check with your child each night to make sure they charge their Chromebook.
- Please ensure your child gets a good night's sleep, and eats a healthy breakfast in the morning.
- Wearing electronic watches or using cell phones during testing is NOT permitted. If your child brings these items to school, they must be powered off and kept in backpacks during testing. Before testing, teachers will review this with students, but I wanted to let you know.
- During testing, students may chew gum.
We will also be having the Great Kindness Challenge at Lions Park next week. Students will receive a checklist on Monday. They can complete the items at home or at school. If they turn in their checklist, they will be put in a raffle to win a prize. The biggest reward will be enjoying doing kind deeds for others! In addition to the checklist, each grade level will be doing activities in school and there will be an announcement every morning.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Katie
5 Essentials Survey
Please click on the link below to a letter regarding an important survey for our school. The results of this survey will be included as a portion of our official School Report Card and school ranking next fall. As a result, your participation and input is important, as we need at least 20% of our parent population to participate.
The survey will be open until March 29, but please take a few minutes to complete the survey as soon as possible. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
