Principal Message
Happy spring to all of you! It has felt great to see the sun shining more often these days. There is something so special about seeing kids enjoy time outside in this warmer weather. As you know we have spring break coming up, and before we take this pause from school we would like to share some important updates for PES. First off our PTO has been busy this year with trying to put some more sparkle on our playground and we will be having some painting parties coming up. There is more specific information in our PTO section below. We have really enjoyed reviving our partnerships with families and enjoy working together for our students.
We also have our Kinder Launch coming up on April 17th. If you or any of our local family/friends have children who will be 5 on or before September 1st, send them our way. We love meeting our Jr. Pirates and getting them excited and prepared for school. Relately, our online registration for next year will open up very soon. We encourage all families to register as early as possible to help us better prepare to serve you.
Finally, I wanted to call attention to our collective efforts to improve attendance across the school and district. Last year we ended the year with 62% of our students attending regularly (90% or more of the time). At the beginning of this year, we started off strong with 80% regular attendance. However, with winter break and very real sickness going around it has set us back a bit in this progress. Currently, we have 68% of our students attending regularly. My hope is that the nicer weather will help give us the boost we need to help us reach our goal of surpassing 70%. Thank you in advance for your help in ensuring that our kiddos are coming to school on time and regularly. Missing a day here or there really adds up and we want to make sure your kiddos are given every opportunity to learn.
We hope you all have a great Spring Break and look forward to seeing you on the flip side.
Warmly,
Shawna Schleif
