Week 2 at School
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. There are great things happening during teaching and learning in a virtual format. We recognize that the most impactful learning comes during small group instructional time. Please continue to support your child with attendance and engagement in the learning process. The foundational learning and the routines established now will be so important as we transition back to the building.
As you begin preparing your child for the eventual return to the building, please continue to reinforce the importance of healthy behaviors including mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. The following visual can support that learning. We can't wait to see our Patriots back at HPE!
Counselor's Corner
Hi Patriot families!
I hope your first few weeks of virtual learning have gone well! As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, this year all students will be learning about the Zones of Regulation and tools and strategies to help them when they are in different zones. Our goal as educators and parents is for our children to be able to self-regulate themselves when they are experiencing a variety of emotions. This work will also help students to determine the size of the problem or challenge they are experiencing. As we continue to learn about the Zones, I will send out information related to each one. I also have a whole page dedicated to Zones on my Canvas page under the Social Emotional learning button. There is so much information that supports teaching our children to self-regulate. Here is the basic graphic that outlines the different zones.
Weekend Snacks
Harrison Parkway is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please contact Bethany Magill, School Counselor, rmagill@hse.k12.in.us or (317) 915-4210.
Please continue to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or need support!
