Global Climate Change
By: Kaitlin Glidewell
What is it?
Global Climate change is similar to global warming. However with global climate change some places will become hotter while some places will get colder. Global climate change can cause the weather pattern of a place to completely change.
Causes and consequences of Global Climate Change
Harmful emissions like carbon dioxide (CO2) or methane (CH4) are released into the air by factories or cars.
This is harmful to the environment because these greenhouse gasses trap more sunlight then the Earth needs causing it to over heat.
Places like New England are already being affected by global climate change. The winters are getting warmer which is causing snow to melt faster. This hurts New England money wise because we make a lot of money with skiing in the Winter. Problems like this are starting to occur all over the world.
What can you do?
There are several steps that you can take to help prevent global climate change. You can, ride your bike or carpool to help reduce the amount of emissions that are released by cars, switching out your incandescent light bulbs for compact florescent light bulbs, and of course turning off lights or unplugging appliances when they're not being used are all things that can help prevent global climate change.
