Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Dighton – Rehoboth School Health Services program supports your student’s academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your student is by performing the health screenings as mandated by the State of Massachusetts. Screenings are not a diagnostic tool, but rather a means of identifying potential problems that can affect a child’s performance in school. The following screenings will be performed over the next several months:
Vision – Grades pre K; K - 4
Hearing – Grades pre K; K- 3
BMI (height and weight) – Grades 1 and 4
If your child is tested and the results are not in the “normal” range for the vision and hearing screen, you will be notified by letter. If you receive a letter, it is recommended that you take your child to a healthcare provider for a comprehensive evaluation.
If you want your child to participate in the screenings for his/her grade, no further action is required. If you do not want your child to participate in any of the screenings, please contact Mrs. Alberto, the school nurse, by December 9th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school nurse at (508) 669 4247
ext 1103

Rooms Update: We have experienced a glitch with training some of our teachers, and this has caused me to reassess the rollout. Rather than have a district-wide rollout on December 1, we have had to modify the timeline (see below).
Starting Monday, December 5, we will initiate a Rooms soft launch. Family members listed in Aspen will receive an email with login information for Rooms. In this soft launch, teachers will have the option to utilize Rooms with their classes. This is not mandatory across the district. This will allow staff that feel prepared to get this off the ground. Doing so will allow us to assess the transition and have some of these staff members consider serving as unofficial trainers in their buildings.
In early 2023, the district will offer additional training opportunities for those staff who aren’t currently utilizing the Rooms tool.
At a date to be determined in late Winter/early Spring, Rooms will be implemented throughout the District. The Rooms tool does not replace District email; however, in time, all staff will be expected to use it in lieu of communication tools like Remind, ClassDojo, etc.
We thank you for your patience as we navigate this. It is crucial to do this right the first time. Taking our time will ease the transition for all.

2. Please have your child exit the passenger side of the vehicle.

Hello DES families,
Happy Friday! Attached please find all the important PTO info happening for December. We are so excited to be hosting Santa's Secret Workshop tomorrow, Saturday December 3rd, 9am-12pm in the DR high school cafeteria. You can enter the high school through the main entrance, for the most convenient access. A couple flyers should have come home with your student already, including a handy envelope. The top flyer was from the PTO and included all the information about the event. The second flyer was from the company hosting the workshop, and included more detailed information about them and their products. Be sure to take a look at both! Don't forget, Santa will also be there, and we'll have our amazing photographer Aleks Messier taking pictures. There will also be a yummy bake sale, spirit wear for sale, a variety of kids crafts, and over 50 raffle prizes! The main attraction is the "workshop," set up in the library where students can shop for family members with the help of our elves. To keep the gifts a surprise, we ask that no parents enter the workshop. In the event that your child will not go in without you, you are of course welcome to join them. But the children really love picking out that special gift for each person, and love that they get to do it all on their own! You don't want to miss this event!
We will start pulling the winners of the 12 Days of Cheer calendar raffle starting December 5th, and winners will be contacted at the number provided on their ticket slip. With 60 possible prizes to win, it sure is exciting!
And please don't forget about our monthly PTO meeting. This month it will be held in the DMS library on December 6th at 6pm. We will also post a zoom link on our facebook page if you are unable to attend in person. Please join us, as your attendance is crucial for voting on events and budget matters. Keep in mind that we have an open position for a Treasurer. In order to continue as a PTO, we need to fill this position as soon as possible.
We thank you all for your support, and hope you have a great month. As always, contact us with any questions.
Thank you,
Dighton PTO
