Career Fair Speaker Invite
Dear Community Member, On behalf of the staff and students at North Smithfield High School, we cordially invite you to participate in our 2019 Career Fair on Wednesday, April 24th from 8:00-11:00 AM. Our high school strives to provide our students with meaningful experiences that will enhance their college and career readiness by giving them tools to research ideas and pathways for their future.
The event begins with a short orientation in the school library followed by the career fair itself. The career fair is broken into three 30 minute sessions with students rotating through presenters. School staff will be in all rooms for the duration of the Career Fair. Students will have a list of career fair questions to reference throughout the fair that will be reviewed with them prior to the career fair. At the end of the fair, presenters will be escorted back to the library for a brief review and evaluation of the event.
This year, we are organizing our career fair around our student pathway and CTE programs. A link to those programs can be found here:

Spring 2018 College Coffee Hours
The NSHS School Counselors will be hosting four sessions of “College Coffee Hour” for parents this fall. Each session will take place in the High School Guidance Office from 7:30-8:15 AM. These sessions are intended to give parents going through the college search process an opportunity to meet with school counselors and ask questions. We also welcome parents who have been through the process before to come and share their experiences with parents who have not been through the process. Topics will be discussed at each session and afterwards, there will be time for questions.

Please bring:
- Two No. 2 pencils with erasers
- An approved calculator
- A watch (without an audible alarm)
- Extra batteries and backup equipment—you’ll have to ask for permission to access them. They cannot be on your desk during the test.
- A drink or snacks (for your break)
Calculator Smarts
- Bring your own calculator. You can’t share one.
- Don’t bring a brand-new calculator. Bring one you know. Practice for the test using the same calculator you’ll use on test day.
- The Math Test includes some questions where it’s better not to use a calculator, even though you’re allowed to.
- It may help to do scratch work in the test book. Get your thoughts down before using your calculator.
- Make sure your calculator is in good working order and that batteries are fresh. The test center will not have batteries or extra calculators. If your calculator fails during testing and you have no backup, you'll have to complete the test without it.
