Spotlight On .. . . .Miss Howard's Half Day Kindergarten classrooms!
Miss Howard has been at Slate Hill for 2 years, and this is her first year teaching Kindergarten. We love having her at Slate Hill!
- Miss Howard's favorite thing about teaching Kindergarten is.... . . My favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is learning and growing as a classroom family. I have loved getting to know each one of my students this year and I look forward to seeing how much they grow from the beginning of the school year. I have learned so much from them!
- Right now in Kindergarten we are working on....... Right now in kindergarten we are learning the difference between a want and a need, writing equations, and tapping out CVC words. We are also getting ready and excited for the 100th day of school!
- So far this year the Kindergarteners' have really enjoyed..........The kindergarteners' have really enjoyed our gingerbread unit. We had a lot of fun reading and re-telling different gingerbread stories and creating many different kinds of gingerbread activities.

Spring Book Fair!
Book Fair Volunteers Needed!
Hello! The book fair is just around the corner, and we are looking for book fair volunteers to help set up and tear down the book fair, as well as to help students shop for and pick out amazing books (and, occasionally, erasers and pencils) when their class gets to visit! This is especially helpful during the before-school rush and the lunch/recess time when any student may visit the book fair, but we also have some after-school spots available if that works better with your schedule! To see what dates/times are available (and to sign up, if you want!), go to this website:
Thank you so, so much for considering giving your time to help out our students (and staff!) during the most hectic days in the school library; I really, really appreciate it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at ckochensparger@wscloud.org
Love from,
Mx. Kochensparger,
Slate Hill Librarian :)

Counselor's Corner
January is a great month to set goals for the upcoming year and to look back on all that we accomplished in the previous year (even if that is just making it through the year)! Below in the eBackpack you can find a fun activity that you can do with the whole family as well as the 7 Habits of a Positive Parent, which may help you think of some goals of your own!
Below you can also find my presentation that I gave at the PTA meeting on 1/13/2022 . It has tips about homework time and executive functioning skills.
As always, please feel free to reach out!
