News And Notes
March 23rd-27th
Schoology Examples
If you are referring students to ConnectEd you MUST assign them the text and/or practice pages.
Make sure your Welcome To Schoology is the first folder at the top of your home page. I will be dropping my "Welcome" message into everyone's folders prior to Wednesday.
Please make sure your own "Welcome" message is published the Welcome To Schoology folder if you have not done so already. This can be audio or audio and video. (I encourage you to do a video, your students miss you!!)
Please make sure you are mentioning that if students are not able to print any practice pages you are asking them to complete, that they can record their answer in a notebook.
Any work that you are asking them to do should be in the Weekly Folder not on the home page. (This would be CNN daily, any daily check in work, morning work, etc..)
Provide DAILY directions for each assignment. Do not post a weekly schedule for parents to follow, directions and assignments should be explained one by one under the weekly folder.
Hide any links that are not relevant to your grade level. (E-Spark, Dreambox, Think Central, etc..) Less is more for parents as they learn the site.

Make sure you state if you can't print to copy answers in a notebook.
K-3 if you are not assigning E-Spark/Dreambox I recommend you putting that as an "optional extra practice" opportunity for them within the ELA/Math folder.
Schoology Timeline Dates
3rd-6th grade families will be receiving their log in information and directions
3rd-6th grade teachers, plan you should be checking into Schoology and checking your email for questions from parents hourly from 9:00-3:50.
The first few days you can anticipate that a working parent may need to email you later in the evening (once they get home, feed the kids, etc..). I highly encourage you to set a time boundary for yourself, just because we are online doesn't mean you are accessible 24/7.
Thursday, March 26th-

Monday, March 30th
K-6 Teachers- Email KT a list of students that you are not able to connect with or that said they will be picking up a packet due to lack of technology/internet access
Friday March 27th- April 3rd
K-6 teachers make sure you are being intentional in checking your email and Schoology account during your work day.
**as you reach out, if students do not have access to technology, direct them to go up to Havel and pick up the grade level practice packet that is outside of Rossi's classroom door (room 1) on the playpad. The following week they are to return the packet and get a new one.**
Virtual Meetings & TEAMS
TEAMS is included in Office365 so it is nothing that you need to purchase.
You will receive a calendar invitation with a link to click on to join the meeting.
You can download the TEAMS app and do the conference call from your phone.
You can also access TEAMS from your laptop.
You do not have to show your face for the video conference. You can turn the camera off.
You should always have your mic on MUTE unless you want to talk to the presenter or respond to a colleague.
I am certain we will have some things to work through as we learn this platform together. While I have been using TEAMS to chat with my principal peeps and it is the format we have our principal meetings, leading a team meeting is new to me, so I thank you for being patient and kind and helping me!!

Group Me
In an effort to not overwhelm or add stress to our team I am asking that any grade level/department specific questions be shared on our separate group me strands in order to alleviate confusion and missed messages.
It is my hope that while we are unable to be together as a staff, our Havel Group Me strand can be utilized for ways for us to stay connected socially (Kenny Rogers video challenge) and to share info that applies to everyone on our team. (the car parade information for example... THANK YOU SUTTER for taking on the route planning and getting the ball rolling!!)
Remind/Dojo App Communication
Remind messages may be utilized for personal connection messages to your students, for building updates, etc...
