Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
March 11, 2024
Hello Hamilton Families,
I have a serious issue to share with you, this year we have had a few incidents where parents have confronted other students or parents regarding an issue with their child. This will not be tolerated at Hamilton. If you or your child have an issue or concern with another child or adult you need to see your child's teacher or come to me. Any adult that is confrontational, shows aggression or violence to another child or adult could be banned from the property and the authorities contacted. If you have any issues concerning your child please contact me right away. You can call the office to set up an appointment or reach out on Dojo.
Please remember that students may not wear wheelies/heelies to school. If those are the only shoes they have, the wheels must be removed. Thank you in advance for your support!!
Please remember that when students are picked up during the day you will need to come into the building and sign your child out. If you have a friend or relative picking your child up please make sure you let them know they will need to come in the building, show id and sign the child out.
Please refrain from calling or texting your child on their cell phone during the school day. If you need to speak to your child or get a message to them please call the office. We have phones in every room of the building so students do not need to use their phones during the day. If your child is caught with their phone out more than once it will be held in the office safe and an adult will have to pick it up. Thank you in advance for your support.

District Updates and News
Mar 12, 2024 Sophomore College Fair - Wayne Memorial and Glenn High School
There will be an increased police presence at our elementary schools to monitor and ensure safe driving around our schools. Please remember (especially with the warmer weather) you can park or let your child out at one of the corners and let your child walk a little. The crossing guards are there to make sure the students cross safely and it keeps you out of the parking lot traffic. Also remember when dropping your child off from the parking lot, you must pull to the curb, do not let them out in the middle lane as this is too dangerous. If you are getting out of the driver seat of your car at any time, you must pull into a parking space.

Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Tardy If your child arrives more than 45 minutes late it will count as an absence. If your child leaves more than 45 minutes early, it will also count as an absence.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Reporting:Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Any student who is absent-unexcused for 10 or more days consecutively will be dropped from the school and will have to re-enroll if they would like to return.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
