MAEIS Weekly Update
'Tis the Season
With all that said, the holiday chaos is one of the most exciting times of the year. It's your year-get involved...be a Secret Santa, sing carols at a nursing home [I'll find $ for a bus], decorate your door, put up your tree and add the extra string of lights! It only comes once a year!
Following our SD time together, there has been some question around what does reading need to look like in our classroom this year. We're learning about the Gradual Release of Responsibility and where all components fit, but does that mean implementation needs to happen today? Here's my answer-no, it doesn't mean that we need to change everything mid-stream. Our goal from our learning together is to have a background in what we believe is imperative for K-6 reading experiences and build a guideline for ourselves from that. With that said, the guidelines we have for ourselves, won't be something we talk about until late spring or next year. This is our year to learn, ponder and experiment. I would say I strongly encourage you to try something new, talk to colleagues and maybe even fail every once and awhile!
This week appears to be a little quiet...time to catch up on post-observations and work on getting goal information out. If you need anything, let me know!
