PTO Board Positions Open: Join Us In Making A Difference!
As we look ahead to the 2024/2025 school year, we are reaching out to our dedicated community of parents to ask for your support in shaping the future of our school. The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) plays a crucial role in enhancing our children's educational experience, and we are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our PTO board. Volunteering for a PTO board position is a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference in our school community. Whether you have a background in education, business, fundraising, or simply a passion for supporting our students, your unique skills and perspectives are invaluable.
Two of the twelve board positions are available to be refilled with a commitment from April 2024 through April 2025. The available positions are: Co-Vice President and Co-Secretary. Each role is essential in driving initiatives that enrich our students' academic and extracurricular activities, strengthen parent-school partnerships, and foster a sense of belonging within our community. Basic job descriptions are available to review in the PTO Bylaws: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TjA1D53H8w54s2En8JdMPgpUST1wrN0kmrL_9BOo988/edit?usp=sharing
If you're interested in becoming more involved in your child's education and making a positive impact, we encourage you to consider volunteering for a PTO board position. By joining forces with fellow parents and educators, you'll have the opportunity to contribute your talents, ideas, and enthusiasm to help shape the future of our school. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community. Together, we can accomplish great things!
If you have any questions about specific roles or would like to express your interest in volunteering, please reach out to Kari Anderson at ptosecretarynre@gmail.com. We welcome and appreciate your participation.

SAC (School Accountability Committee)
Principal Letter
Dear NRE Community,
A big shoutout goes to the Marrs family for hosting an incredible evening at CandeeLand last Friday! It was an unforgettable night filled with community spirit, children darting from one attraction to another, and plenty of delightful screaming voices. The students had a blast, and it's safe to say that the staff might have had even more fun playing life-sized Hungry, Hungry Hippos! We're grateful for your generosity in opening your business to us, supporting NRE, and treating us to dinner and extra perks. This event brought in $4,000 to the NRE PTO which is BEYOND amazing!
To the PTO and DBC, a heartfelt thank you for providing Solar Eclipse glasses! What a thoughtful gift for the NRE community, allowing both students and staff to experience the wonder of the Eclipse. Growing up in Niagara Falls, NY, and they had to declare a state of emergency due to the million people that were attending the eclipse there. I love what positive things bring people together!
Thank you to Kevin Contreras with Cooper Construction for giving back to NRE! I have known Kevin since 1996 and he is one of the hardest working, kind, and thoughtful family man I know. Kevin works as a fireman full time and works with other firemen on their days off for construction. When the tornado hit our community, Kevin reached out and said he wanted to give back to the school while fixing houses and this week, he dropped off a check for $3,000. They still have projects they are working on and each roof they repair, they are giving back $500 to NRE! They certainly did not have to do this but it was the goodness of his heart that led him to do this. Thank you Cooper Construction and Kevin Contreras for helping NRE stay strong.
While it wasn't an ideal way to end the school week with a Fire Alarm, we did get everyone out safely and practice moving cars to get the fire engine through the congestion. If there ever was a perfect time for a weekend, it is now :)
One more week of CMAS testing our NRE students. See you all on Monday!

Did you even know it was a thing? Yeah, me either until it was 🤣
Thank you Cooper Construction for your generous donation!
We are so grateful.
DCSD and Other News
Proud to Be DCSD!
There is so much to be proud of within the Douglas County School District. We have incredible students, fantastic teachers and staff, and amazing parents/guardians and community members who all work together to make this school district one of the best!
Did You Know?
For the first time in a decade, DCSD is the TOP scoring district in the Denver/Metro area!
DCSD is one of the only districts in the country to have met or exceeded our 2019 (pre-pandemic!!) scores in every subject and every grade.
DCSD is one of the only school districts in the state to increase proficiency levels across all student subgroups.
DCSD is one of the leaders, nationwide, in “blurring the lines” between PK-12 and higher education through our incredible Concurrent Enrollment/Career & Technical Education offerings (Over 20K seats!) and our partnerships with multiple higher education institutions, providing students additional pathways to success after high school, whether they choose college or go straight to industry.
Finally, DCSD was just rated number 11 on the list of the 250 “most envied” school districts in the country by Test Prep Insight. (DCSD is the only Colorado school district in the top 65).
