The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)
The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) are the state's common measurement of students' progress at the end of the school year in English language arts, math, science and social studies. Students in grades 3 through 8 take the CMAS Math and English Language Arts. Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 take the CMAS science assessments.
CMAS will be administered at Walnut Hills April 2nd- April 18th
3rd Grade: CMAS Math, CMAS English Language Arts
4th Grade: CMAS Math, CMAS English Language Arts
5th Grade: CMAS Math, CMAS English Language Arts, CMAS Science
Please limit appointments and early dismissals during this time. Families may choose to opt their student(s) out of one or all content tests by going to the state testing tile on your my.cherrycreekschools.org account.
Spring Parent & Teacher Conferences
Our teachers are looking forward to meeting with families to discuss your student's learning and growth so far this year. Please contact your child's teacher if you have been unable to schedule a conference. Conferences start March 4th.
Please be mindful of the non-contact days for students next week.

SPRING PICTURE DAY
Don't you love seeing how much your children have grown up since the start of the school year?
Dorian Photography will be at Walnut Hills to take class photos on Tuesday, March 5th.
This is a great day for us to have 100% attendance!
LOST AND FOUND
Just a reminder to retrieve clothing, jackets, hats, gloves, lunchboxes and any other lost or missing items from the lost & found before spring break.
The lost & found will remain at the front of the building until we leave for break.
Items will be donated March 15th!
Shhh...It's Library Time!
CHERRY CREEK READS
To help us celebrate Cherry Creek Reads Week 2024, we are going on a walking field trip to Castlewood Library! During our field trip, students will learn about the Arapahoe County Library summer reading program. Students will also enjoy story time (K-2) or a book talk (3rd-5th) and have time to explore the children’s area of the library.
Look for permission slips in your student's Friday folder and return by 3/6.

EARLY RELEASE WEDNESDAYS REMINDER
Walnut Hills Families,
As a friendly reminder, Wednesdays are early release days. School gets out at 1:45 PM on Wednesdays. Please make plans for your students to get home or be picked up. If you are looking for care options for Wednesdays or any other day, we encourage you to check out our Before & After care program at Walnut Hills Elementary.

Parent Engagement Opportunities
PTCO
The Walnut Hills Parent Teacher Community Organization(PTCO) is a non-profit organization that raises funds to assist in attaining the highest level of education and welfare for all the students of Walnut Hills. We welcome everyone that is committed to our school to engage in this volunteer driven partnership between the families of our students, our dedicated teachers and staff, members of the community, and local businesses.
We meet the second Tuesday of every month at 6pm. The committee welcomes participation from all families of the Walnut Hills Elementary School community.

READ-A-THON 23/24
Our spring read-a-thon is just one of the many fundraisers that the Walnut Hills PTCO sponsors in order to support our students and staff.
Please mark your calendars with the important dates listed below:
March 4th:
-Registration and donations open.
March 11th-15th:
-Students will read for as many minutes as they can. Students will then track their reading minutes on mybooster.com and can work toward earning individual, classroom and school level prizes.

Partnerships for Academically Successful Students (P.A.S.S)

Partnerships for Academically Successful Students (P.A.S.S) is a committee of school and family leaders that supports the district's goal of Inclusive Excellence.
