FOOD SAFETY
By: Gerardo Bolanos
why healthy and safety food is so important to consumers?
Food safety is important so that we can avoid illnesses that are borne by unsafe foods. Foodborne illness is a preventable and underreported public health problem. It presents a major challenge to both general and at-risk populations. Each year, millions of illnesses in the United States can be attributed to contaminated foods. Children younger than age 4 have the highest incidence of laboratory-confirmed infections from.

Unsafe food can cause death.
Farmers need to care the processor to growth or make food safely. coli are harmless, others can make you sick. Some kinds of E. coli can cause diarrhea, while others cause urinary tract infections, respiratory illness, pneumonia, and other illnesses. Food can transmit disease from person to person, as well as serve as a growth medium for bacteria that can cause food poisoning. In 2006, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) received reports of a total of 1,270 foodborne disease outbreaks, which resulted in 27,634 cases of illness and 11 deaths.2

Healthy food
The 3,000 annual deaths and 130,000 hospitalizations due to food borne illness, though tragic, are minuscule compared with other deaths related to our diet. Every year at least 310,000 Americans go to an early grave, and many more are sickened because of largely preventable diet-related conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, strokes, and some cancers. The big problem with our food supply isn't pathogens, it is processed food. Foodborne illnesses are a burden on public health and contribute significantly to the cost of health care. A foodborne outbreak occurs when 2 or more cases of a similar illness result from eating the same food.

Government's coperation
Government should do more or pay attention to food safety. The government should charge farmers if they don't growth food safely, so they can stop and prevent illness. The government should includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe health hazards. By eating unsafe and unhealthy food, people can get disabilities and other diseases. They can become unhealthy and malnourished. Fast food is the worst food ever to come up in American society. You may say it's taking away freedom but I say better healthy than unhealthy. People get obese, too. People get sick or die from fast food everyday. The Government should do something about it, we as a community should do something about this!!!

Conclusion
food safety considerations include the origins of food including the practices relating to food labeling, food hygiene, food additives and pesticide residues. In considering market to consumer practices, the usual thought is that food ought to be safe in the market and the concern is safe delivery and preparation of the food for the consumer.
