English Language Arts
5th-8th Daily Lesson Plans
My name is Ms. Ouellette, and I am your student's English Language Arts teacher! We are utilizing the curriculum HMH Into Reading (5th grade) and HMH Into Literature (6th-8th grade). The online version of the curriculum can be found here. For 6th-8th grade, we will also be utilizing HMH Grammar. For more information about our yearly plan, see my school website.
Our assignments range from project-based, discussion-based, and reading and writing-focused. We read a range of literature in our textbooks, and we utilize the Writing Process in our writing. Students will also be responsible for weekly HMH Online Work (6th-8th) OR 2 Weekly i-Ready Lessons (5th), and a weekly Reading Log, where they will be reading an independent reading book for 30 minutes a week and recording what they read in a two to three sentence summary. They must complete these online lessons and get their Reading Log signed by a parent or guardian by Monday of each week. Near the end of the semester, an independent reading project will be due.
