What is Multiple Myeloma?
Multiple Myeloma is a blood cancer that affects the bone marrow plasma.
How does Multiple Myeloma affect the body?
Myeloma or Kahler's disease mainly affect the circulatory system but some symptoms affect the bone system.
How does the body function with/without Myeloma?
Normally the Bone Marrow produces health red and white blood cells to counter-balance your loss of blood and keep your immune system healthy. With Kahler's disease the bone become weaker and the bone plasma becomes unable to produce blood cells or they produce extremely weak and unhealthy blood cells.
Who is most commonly afflicted?
It is know that Myeloma is more common in the elderly. It is also proven that it is more common in blacks then in whites and more common in men then women.
What causes Multiply Myeloma?
The causes of Kahler's disease is unknown as are the risk factors that increase your chance of getting this disease.
How do you diagnosis Myeloma?
There are a variety of test you could take including:
- Complete blood count
- total protein count
- Kidney function blood test
Sign and Symptoms
- fatigue
- low blood cell count
- shortness of breath
- weaker bones and bone pain
Treatment options
- radiation therapy
- chemotherapy
Prognosis
The normal life span of someone with Multiple Myeloma is 3-5 with treatment.
