Where is the Taj Mahal?
The Taj Mahal is located on the south bank of the Yamuna River. It is also just outside the city of Agra where Jahan placed his memorial. The mausoleum is lined north to south stretching 1,900 feet by 1,000 feet. Towards the south of the building is the famous large sandstone gateway. If you choose to go to the north end you will find the mausoleum.

The Construction
The Taj Mahal has so many different structures and styles which make it beautiful. It has high red stone walls with octogonal turrets at the corners. The entire building is coated in pure Makrana marble, even the base which is 312 feet long and 23 feet high. Also one of the most recognizible parts of the building are the onion shaped domes on top of each building. Lastly on the lowest level is a tomb of sorts for a man and his wife.

The Taj Mahal is very beautiful, but it has its own mysteries and secrets to be unraveled. The Taj Mahal was created by a man named Jahan. He built it for him and his favorite wife. So when they both died they weren't buried underground, but they wereput in one of the lowest levels of the masoleom together. A mausoleum is a stately and magnificent tomb. Jahan and his wife have an eight-sided room filled with monuments for them.
