RIVERSIDE REVIEW
10.29.2021
Principal Message
Dear RSI Families,
Welcome back from what I hope was a wonderful and relaxing October Break. It was great to get our Hawks back to the River and get back into the focus of school. This week also kicked off the beginning of Parent/Family/Teacher Conferences that will run through November 19th. Each of your teachers has or will send out invitations on when and how you can sign up for a conference in the coming weeks. We will also provide evening conferences like we did in past years, for those teachers who desire to consider those hours. Regardless of when your conference is scheduled, remember we want to see you. If you need a virtual conference, simply request a zoom and we will ensure that is available. Many of you will have your children invited for a student-lead conference as well. Having your child at the center of their own learning discussion, while celebrating successes and achievements, is a tremendous experience.
"If, as it is undoubtedly clear, that effective collaboration is a critical component of the partnership between schools and the home setting [and if communication] has never been more important than it is now, with an increasingly complex society riddled with competing demands and escalating daily challenges impacting the lives of educators and families alike."
Berklan & Hughes, 2020
I look forward to seeing you at RSI soon and thank you so much for your continued support for our RSI school community.
Please take a look below at the NWEA Family Toolkit that can assist you with any NWEA questions or needs and remember all questions are great questions during Parent/Family Conferences.
Have a happy Halloween weekend.
Sincerely,
Dana Kaminski, Ph.D.
Riverside Intermediate Principal
Covid Info for Families
Please remember to send your student to school healthy. If a student is ill and has any of the symptoms of Covid listed below, we encourage you to get your student tested using a PCR test, which is available via Fishers Health Department (COVID Vaccine | Fishers, IN - Official Website) or the Indiana Department of Health (ISDH - Novel Coronavirus: COVID-19 Testing Information). PCR tests are the most accurate and provide less risk of a false positive or negative result. A visit to your physician is also suggested if you feel this is not Covid-related, then a doctor's note would be needed for your student to return to school. Please do not send your child to school ill or while waiting for Covid test results.

Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
Response to Instruction (RtI) is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
