Tennis
Girls Golf
April was a very good month for Cowgirl Golf!
The girls participated in the 6-6A district tournament at Tangle Ridge GC in Grand Prairie and through horrific wind conditions (20-35 mph) finished second. This qualified them for the Region 1 tournament which is 4/20-21. This will be held at the same location, Tangle Ridge GC.
The top three from the Regional tournament will qualify for the state event in mid May in Georgetown.
The girls placed three members on the all-district teams:
Kirstin Angosta - 1st Team/Also placed 3rd overall at District event
Lauren Rios and Mia Gaboriau - 2nd Team
We will be recognizing all Golfers and their families at our Golf Banquet on Cinco de Mayo
Boys Golf
The CHS Boys Golf Teams wrapped up their season at District 6-6A Golf Tournament on March 28 & 29 at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie. The Varsity 1 Team was represented by Rithvik Shroff, Alex Ahn, Max Scott, Kai Kohli and Granger Hassmann. Playing for the Varsity 2 Team were Jacob Garcia, Jai Patel, Ashmit Aggarwal, Jacob Hahm and Grant Kutz.
The Varity 1 Team placed 4th in the District 6-6A tournament, just 3 strokes behind 3rd place Hebron. Alex Ahn narrowly missed on an opportunity to qualify for regionals in a playoff against two other competitors for one of two medalists spots. Alex was earned 2nd team all-district honors and was joined by teammates Rithvik Shroff and Kai Kohli on the All-District 2nd Team.
The Varsity 2 Team finished in 10th place and were led by Ashmit Aggarwal who shot a 2 day total of 162 (82, 80).

Baseball
Cowboy baseball is winding down district play and has clinched a playoff spot. Varsity is currently tied at the top of district 6-6A with Marcus and have 1 series vs Flower Mound let to play.
The Cowboy pitching staff lead by TJ Pompey and Andrew Nester have combined to have a 1.5 ERA in district play. The dominant pitching has been complemented by high level defensive play that has limited opponents to the least number of runs given up by any team in district 6-6A.

Girls Track
The Coppell Girls' Track & Field team competed in the District 6-6A Track & Field Meet at Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy on Wednesday, 4/13 and Thursday, 4/14. The team finished 2nd in the overall team standings with 123 points. The JV team finished 4th in the final standings. The varsity girls' scored in 15 of the 17 scoring events. The top 4 varsity athletes in each event qualified for the Area Track & Field Meet. The team had a total of 12 athletes that qualified over 11 events.
The following girls qualified for the Area Meet: Sky Schuller (PV, HJ, LJ, 100H, 300H), Megan Judd (HJ, LJ, 4x100, 4x200), D'Aira Green (4x100, 4x200), Sedem Buatsi (4x100, 4x200), Emma Williams (400, 4x400), Olivia Marez (4x200, 4x400), Vedanti Naktode (4x100), Kimberly Obialo (Shot), Paris Harper (TJ), Kinley Wojick (PV), Isabella Sarmiento (4x400), and Jalyn Childers (4x400).
The above athletes will compete in McKinney on Thursday, 4/21 at the Area Track & Field Meet in hopes of qualifying for the 6A Region 1 Meet in Arlington on 4/29- 4/30.
Boys Track
This month has been a month of great achievement, team success and personal success for the Boy's Track and Field Team.
Heading into the District Meet earlier this month, the Boys track and field team racked up 8 straight victories. After the end of the second day of the District Meet, the boys walked away with their 9 straight victory and a 2022 District 6-6A Championship.
This team success was only magnified by a total of 15 boys qualifying for the Area Meet. The Area meet was yet another great night of competition for the Cowboys. Michael Maldima placed 4th in the 100M Dash and earned a trip to the Regional Meet. In doing so, he broke a 20-year-old school record by clocking 10.4 seconds in the 100m. Ryan Sewell had a personal best of 175 feet and 8inches in the discus. That distance earned him a 1st place win and a trip to the Regional Meet.
Michael Nance also qualified for the Regional Meet with a jump of 15'3" in the Pole Vault. The vault earned him a 1st place finish. Vedant Bhattacharyya qualified for the Regional Meet with a 2nd place finish in the 1600m Run with a time of 4:21.Andrew Mullen qualified for the Regional Meet with a 4th place finish in the 3200m Run and a time of 9:34.06. Aidan McFarlane qualified for the Regional Meet with a 4th place finish and a time of 14.89 seconds in the 110M hurdles. Wesley Arnold qualified for the Regional Meet with a 4th place finish and a time of 50.86 in the 400M Dash. Finally, Baron Tipton qualified for the Regional meet in the High Jump with a Jump with a 4th place finish and a jump of 6'0".
This weekend the Regional Qualifiers will travel to Arlington, Texas to participate in the Regional Meet at Maverick Stadium. Lets all wish them the very best Go Cowboys!
Football
Spring Football practice is off to a great start with a strong Offensive performance in our first scrimmage. Jack Fishpaw and Edward Griffith were both standout players in our first live scrimmage of the 2022 Spring. The players are flying around and competing. We are excited to see what the future holds for the 2022 football season. Here are some of our important events that we have coming up.

Swim and Dive
The swim team is gliding through the off-season like a surfer on the perfect wave. Balancing the chaos of life with the wind in our face and graduation in sight. The hard work of the season is done. Now the athletes can adjust their focus to finding new ways of enjoying the water they normally work so hard at powering through for speed. The swimmers and divers are crushing it in the weight room! New strengths are being discovered which will hopefully prevent injuries in the future.
The team will have one last competition of the school year, "The Last Hoorah" on May 7th. This meet will be held at the Coppell Family YMCA beginning at 2:30pm.

Cross Country
Many distance boys and girls were a part of the Coppell Boys' and Girls' Track & Field team that competed in the District 6-6A Track & Field Meet at Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy on Wednesday, 4/13 and Thursday, 4/14. The boys' team finished as District Champions and the girls' team finished 2nd in the overall team standings. The boys' JV team finished 3rd and the girls' JV team finished 4th in the final standings.
The following distance boys qualified for the Area Meet: Andrew Mullen (3200) and Vedant Bhattacharyya (800/1600).
Mallory Sherrer just missed qualifying for Area with two 5th place finishes in the 800 and 1600.
Andrew and Vedant will compete in McKinney on Thursday, 4/21 at the Area Track & Field Meet in hopes of qualifying for the 6A Region 1 Meet in Arlington on 4/29- 4/30.
Boys Basketball
Boys Basketball is in the middle of spring off-season in which our athletes are determined to increase their strength and skill development heading into the summer and fall stages of offseason. After 6 weeks of our current program, we have seen a lot of improvement in many areas across the board both individually and as a program. The athletes have been extremely committed to the process.
Monday April 25th will be our basketball banquet in which we honor our 5 teams and players for the special season we all shared. Each team had winning seasons tournament hardware to celebrate.

NORTH
The North Soccer boys are in full effect. A team has a current record of 1-1-1, while the B team remains undefeated at 3-0. As the final 3 games are coming up, the push for the boys teams is a clean sweep over Keller, West and East. Leadership is strong in our 8th grade roster with Colt Kaiser leading goals scored for the A team and Shamus Foster is the high scorer for B team; each having two goals this season.
The Lady Cougars are on fire to start their 2022 season. The A team is 3-0 and has not given up a single goal all season! The B team is also 3-0 and has already scored 20 goals for the year! The Lady Cougars are looking to obtain their first ever District Championship!
WEST
We have completed half of our soccer season and improving each week! The Lady Wrangler soccer team will travel to Medlin next Thursday. The off-season has started off on a high note in basketball and volleyball skills, and the 8th graders are enjoying seeing the high school coaches come to lead their practices.
The West boys Soccer team is halfway through their season and have been playing really well. Both teams are sitting in the middle of their zone standings and ready to kick off the last half of the season.
The West Athletic banquet will be next Tuesday night at the West main gym, and the coaches are excited to recognize all of our hard working athletes and commend them on some great seasons this year!
EAST
The East Boys finished track season strong at the Meet of Champions. Sibu Socks took first in high jump, second in long jump and second in triple jump. Noah Schuller’s record breaking season was capped off with a first place finish in pole vault. Gabe Campos also medaled, finishing third overall in the 1600
Soccer season is also going strong with A team’s record sitting at 1-0-2 and B team at 2-1-0. They look to remain atop the standings and make a push for the end of season tournament.
