4th Grade Basket Friendly Reminder
Thank you so much for your great donations toward our 4th grade basket and also Gala Auction. This is going to be last reminder about possible contributions for our grade's Beauty from the Inside Out/ Wellness themed basket. We're almost at the finish line. If you are still thinking what you can donate that would perfectly fit with our theme. The idea is simple, any item that benefits our well being will be great and beneficial for our 4th grade basket. Some of the suggestions are: massages, spa visit, beauty/facial treatments, yoga/Pilates classes, juice cleanse or any other body rejuvenation products/services, yoga/Pilates or other classes,. You can also make a monetary donation toward our basket in the amount of $20 and we'll purchase whatever is still needed.
Please remember to attach donation form with your item so we can include a description of that item in the catalog, thank you and the donor.

Used CDs for Pi Day
We're looking for used CDs for an art project for our Pi Day (3/13) celebration. Kids will make tops out of them and then we'll spin to see who wins! If you have used CDs to contribute (discs only, not cases), please bring them to the container in the lobby. Thank you!
PI DAY
Student Council would like to announce our first ever “Pi Day” celebration at school! Pi is a mathematical constant whose first three digits are 3.14 so Pi Day is celebrated on 3/14 (March 14). It's a big one this time because it falls on the first FIVE digits of Pi, 3/14/15 or 3.1415.
Since March 14 is a Saturday this year, we’ll be having our own celebration on Friday, March 13 with lots of fun games and crafts, including a contest to recite the most digits of pi! Kids will compete against others in their grade, with gift cards worth $31.41 going to the winners.
There will be prizes just for participating and it will be fun. This is a fun, educational math enrichment activity of our kids so lets get them excited and interested to participate. So, if our children are interested in competing (which is entirely optional), have them start memorizing Pi now! We are using this link to judge: www.piday.org/million so be sure to use that value for memorizing. There will be a signup sheet in all classrooms so have your student fill that out if he or she would like to be part of the contest.
And on Wednesday students in the upper grades will be given a template to design a Pi Day t-shirt, with the winning designs being made into t-shirts as their prize.
We also need volunteers, as well as PIES (the kind you eat!), for every classroom to enjoy at the end of the day. Here's a link to help out with our Pi Day carnival:

Can you Host a Party/Event for our Auction?
One of the ways parents can contribute to the
Gala Auction is to host a get-together that people buy slots for. Lots of schools do this and they're a fun way to raise money for the parent group. This can be as easy as a play date for kids, making cookies, or doing an activity in your backyard. And you set the limit on the number of people who attend (available only to school families). Here are some ideas that have been successful in the past. If you can host or coordinate this kind of event please submit a description of it on a donation form to the Gala Auction box in the office. This is also a great way to get to know other families. Thank you!
Pick-A-Party
· There are so many great ideas for a Party Book: BBQs, Game nights, Basketball games, Poker night, Hiking, Movie Screenings, Wine Tasting, Cooking Classes, Cocktail Parties, Dinner Parties, Disco Nights, etc. The possibilities are endless!
· Any party/event you create can be a great idea! Think of a personal connection you may have to create a unique party, or an interest or hobby you may have, or a sporting or entertainment event to which you may have access.
· As parents, we have packed schedules, and we rarely get the opportunity to meet and to spend time with other WeHo Elementary families. These parties/events are designed to bring parents together, to create a stronger bond and sense of community among our Families, while having fun!
