News and Notes
- Important - During PM Dismissal, help to get students out of the building. It is taking our bus riders a very long time to get out to buses. Students should go immediately to their PM Dismissal location when their respective bell rings.
- Important (part 2) - During all times when students are in transition (Arrival/Dismissal, class change, lunch, etc), be in the place you are scheduled. If you are running late, please let an administrator know so we can cover your location if needed.
- We have one week until Fall Break. Let's make the most of our time with students.
More about "Grit"
I was fortunate this week to hear writer Paul Tough speak to Huntsville community group Village of Promise. Mr. Tough spoke about the research findings in his book How Children Succeed. Mr. Tough argues that character traits like grit, perseverance, self-control, and curiosity are better indicators of success than a child's intelligence quotient.
We will continue to hear more about this interesting research as it develops. In the meantime, I believe our continued effort in using teachable moments to point out and develop these traits in our students will be extremely beneficial to their future.

A school focus last year was on formative assessment and providing effective feedback. Both are continuing to occur on a regular basis this year. Great job! Some teachers asked about knowing if the feedback given was effective. I've provided a link so you may view some webinars on the subject. Enjoy.
