From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Families,
Next week, we are holding Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! We are so proud of our staff for supporting students throughout the year. This is our opportunity to show our gratitude. Our amazing PTA has a fun week planned (see below).
As administrators, we realize that we are extremely lucky to work with such an incredible group of dedicated, student-centered professionals. We are constantly impressed by our Central Staff because they give our foxes their very best every day. Their passion for nurturing young learners is truly inspiring and we feel lucky that we get to work with such an amazing team.
Please help us celebrate our staff next week by thanking some of the staff members who have made a difference in your child's life. From the custodians & cooks, to the teachers & specialists, to the paraprofessionals & office staff, it truly takes a village to create such an incredible school environment and we want each and every one of our team members to feel appreciated!
Warmly,
Becky & Katherine
It's Time for Our Solar-bration - Monday, May 8th 3:30-4:30!
It's finally here! The Green Team is proud to announce our Solar-bration! After years of dreaming, Central School has solar panels thanks to a grant written in part by the Green Team! Come and celebrate with us as we officially turn them on for the first time. After we turn the solar panels on outside, come inside for some fun crafts, treats and activities. All children must be accompanied by an adult. An e-ticket is required to be shown for entry into the cafeteria. Central's Solar-bration will be this Monday May 8th from 3:30 to 4:30. The Green Team hopes to see you there!

Green Team's Reuse for Animals Drive!
The Green Team is sponsoring a REUSE drive! The Evanston Animal Shelter is in need of some help as they move locations to their new building. Please only consider donating gently used items, as we're looking to reuse items we already have. Please see the flyer below for more information.
1st & 3rd Grade Music Showcase Week: May 8-12
We are excited to invite 1st and 3rd grade parents to music class for an end of the year showcase. This will take place during your child's music class from May 8th-12th. Click here to find your assigned date/time by classroom teacher. The showcase will take place in the auditorium. Please display the ticket below at the office in order to enter the building. This is not a concert, but an informal glimpse into a typical daily music class and some of our favorite songs/activities from this year. Students have been busy singing, creating, playing instruments, and moving/dancing all year, and they can't wait to share with you what they've learned! Reach out to Ms. Delaney Roberts (music teacher) with any questions: robertsd@wilmette39.org.
From the District Office
“Solarbrations” Are Coming!
This month, District 39 schools will be holding “solarbrations” to celebrate the installation of our new solar panels. The panels are the result of a grant received from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, providing educational opportunities and energy to our schools. D39 has a strong commitment to sustainability initiatives and these solar panels also provide a wonderful teaching and learning opportunity for our students, faculty, and staff. We are very proud that all six of our schools now have solar panels! Check your child’s school(s) newsletter for more information on this upcoming celebration.
Student Fees Information
The Board of Education approved student fees for the 2023-24 academic year during its April business meeting last Monday night. With families beginning to look ahead to next year and should you wish to learn more about these fees, we invite you to use the April Committee of the Whole and April Board of Education meetings as resources, as the Board engaged in very informative discussions on this topic. Recordings for both meetings are available on the District 39 YouTube channel. We are grateful to the Board for its guidance as we prepare for a busy end of the 2022-23 school year while also making plans for the fall.
Thank You Jeff Dees!
Wilmette Junior High School 7th Grade Level Administrator Jeff Dees was approved as the new Associate Principal for Curriculum & Instruction at Round Lake High School earlier this week. Mr. Dees’ dedication and passion for educating our students made him a valuable member of our WJHS leadership team and learning community for the past five years and we wish him tremendous success in his new position. He will continue in his current role at WJHS through June 30.
