The Grizzly Growl
June 2022
From the Bear Den
Hello Grizzly Families!
As I look back on yet another 'unprecedented' school year, one in which Covid continued to have major impacts on students, staff, and our Grassfield families, I am grateful and proud of how we all pulled together to make this year the best it could be. I am thankful that we were able to restart sports and student activities. I am elated that we were able to have senior functions. I am proud of our students who started out not remembering how to 'do' school but settled in and and adopted The Grizzly Way as the school year progressed. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge our incredible teachers and staff for their steadfast contributions to our students' academic and social well-being. We are all hoping for a normal start to the 2022-2023 school year so we can build off of this momentum. We have some exciting plans.
This edition of The Grizzly Growl contains important end of the year information. Please review the schedules carefully. Our next edition will be in August with lots of back to school information. It will be here before we know it!
Have a safe, fun, and relaxing summer break! And as always, Go Grizzlies!
Sincerely,
Mr. Michael Perez
Principal
Please also follow our social media pages on Twitter and Instagram for any last-minute updates. If you have any questions, please contact our administrators at 757-558-4749.
Please contact the school nurse if your child tests positive for Covid or has a close contact.
Semester 2 Exams
Students should check StudentVue to review their MP5-8 grades. Each marking period is weighted equally, so semester two final grades can be determined using the average of marking periods 5-8. Students in full year classes may also opt-out of the final exam. Select the Grade Book tab in ParentVue and StudentVue to see marking period grades.
Students who choose not to opt-in to the final exams are expected to report to the school building for instructional activities through June 15. Students who do not report to the building will be marked absent. Please monitor your child's absences.
Thursday, June 16 is an exam make-up day. Only students who need to make-up an exam need to report to the building. Attendance will not count that day.

Class of 2022 Transcript Information :- College bound seniors are reminded to request a final transcript through Parchment to be sent to their college of choice. Colleges require that they receive these transcripts to complete the registration process. Transcripts will be released to the colleges sometime between June 28th-June 30th. Seniors should be aware that final transcripts won’t be ready until June 28, so plan your summer college registration accordingly. Seniors are also reminded that their Parchment account will be attached to them forever and that they should remember their email address and password so they may order transcripts in the future. After August 1, seniors will be considered alumni and there will be a fee for requesting transcripts through Parchment. Seniors are reminded that their Chesapeake School email address will be deactivated after graduation.
