CURRICULUM UPDATE
Reading: We are learning how to read books with a pattern. Looking at the picture clues and matching our voice to the words (pointing) helps us figure out the words in the pattern.
Math: We are beginning to solve real life number problems. We have thought about how many combinations of 3, 4 and 5 can be made. (3+1=4, 2+2=4)
Writing: We are enjoying publishing our favorite story from our Narrative Writing Unit. We will start the new year writing Pattern Books. Please practice reading and writing sight words over break to help them with this unit.
DECEMBER WORD WALL WORDS
KINDERGARTEN READING NIGHT
Parents often ask how they can help their children learn how to read. We have planned a parent workshop on Wednesday, January 7th with helpful tips and information on what your child needs to prepare for First Grade. The workshop will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Babysitting will be provided for children 3 -11 years old. The workshop will include a free pizza dinner and a free Just Right book for your child.
WINTER CLOTHES
December is here and the cold weather is here to stay! Please help your child remember to bring their snow pants, snow boots, winter coat, hat, and gloves to wear on the playground. All items should come in a separate reusable bag. If your child does not have the proper outdoor clothing they will be asked to play on the blacktop to protect them from getting their clothing wet from the snow. Thank you for your help in teaching them how to dress for the weather.
SMART BRAINS
We are looking for parent volunteers to help with our Smart Brain Program. This is a six station exercise program that helps build skills in following directions, visual memory, coordination, and much more. The children will participate in the program on Monday afternoons. If you would like to be a Smart Brain Volunteer, please contact your child's teacher.
HOLIDAY PARTY
Please send your child’s Gift of Reading book in if you haven't already done so. Please wrap their book and put a tag with their name on it. The children will open their books at the Holiday Party.
We wish everyone a wonderful holiday vacation! The school will be closed December 20th through January 4th. School will resume on January 5th.
