Relationships
The staff at Lakeview has focused on building positive relationships. There are a few ways we try to do this deliberately at Lakeview:
#1 - SM's Character Ed program - Every school in the district uses the same 5 character traits of kindness, respect, responsibility, honesty, and perseverance. You may not realize that SM is on the forefront of Character Education and has been awarded for its efforts. These character traits are the basis of positive relationships, and your students will continue to talk about them right up until high school graduation.
#2 - Lakeview's positive behavior expectations - We take time to teach students how to Be safe, Be respectful, and Be engaged in all areas of the school, including in classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, playground, office, etc.
#3 - We know that it takes trust and consistency to build relationships. Some people take longer than others. We won't stop until every student has a caring relationship because we know that meaningful learning only happens when a student has meaningful relationships.
