Physical Education Stations
Things have been busy here in the gym at Hawthorne Elementary. The month of March has been filled with gymnastics, circus arts, and parachute activities.
The students practiced their skills in learning stations. The stations consisted of the log--pencil roll, vaulting, star jump, tuck jump, 180 jump, balance beam, spinning plates, juggling scarves, feather balancing and balance boards. We ended the unit with parachute activities which promote cooperation and teamwork.
After Spring Break our students will learn the fundamentals of soccer and will engage in numerous fun dribbling, passing, and shooting activities.
First Grade Family Literacy Night
Please save the date for our First Grade Family Literacy Night on April 25th from 6:00-7:30 p.m., presented by our Reading Teachers. The format for the evening will be similar to Math Night. We will meet as a group in the gymnasium to do some shared reading. Then we will visit literacy stations to engage in word games, shared reading, and writing. We hope that you are able to join us. Please RSVP by April 12th using the link below.
Mt. Pleasant Visual Arts Festival
You are cordially invited to attend the opening reception of our annual Arts Festival at the Westlake High School Library on Monday, March 18th, anytime between 6:30-8 p.m.
As always, selected artwork from grades 2 and 5 will showcase the talented young artists who demonstrate quality craftsmanship and dedication to the arts in school. We are very excited to have the community come out to see the artwork, meet the artists, and celebrate the creativity and commitment to the arts in Mt. Pleasant.
If your children’s artwork is being displayed, you have already received an invitation.
Thank you.
We look forward to seeing you there!
K-12 Pops Concert
