NYSESLAT TESTING
Each year, the NYSESLAT (New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test) is given to all identified English Language Learners throughout New York State.
Students currently receiving Language Services, through either a Bilingual Program or English as a New Language Program, and will be taking this examination.
The NYSESLAT is designed to measure the English language proficiency of students who have been identified as an English Language Learner (ELL). Students who have been identified as an ELL and take the NYSESLAT, will be determined to be at one of the 5 following English proficiency levels:
Beginning → Entering
Intermediate → Emerging or Transitioning
Advanced → Expanding
Proficient → Commanding
The NYSESLAT measures English proficiency in the four areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, and is administered over the course of several days. Below you will find the administration dates of the 2024 NYSESLAT.
Test Administration Date
NYSESLAT (Speaking)
Monday, April 15th to Friday, May 24th
NYSESLAT (Listening, Reading, Writing)
Monday, May 13th to Friday, May 24th
Your child’s participation in the NYSESLAT examination is critical. During NYSESLAT testing administration dates, students are expected to attend school in order to complete this required New York State test that measures your son or daughter’s level of English proficiency.
NYS Math Asessment
Students in grades 3 - 5 will take the NYS Math Exam on April 30th and May 1st. Please make sure that your child brings their device to school and it is fully charged, Thank you for your support.
