Synchronous Class Time and Module Day Changes: Begins Monday, January 25 (Term 3 Start)
ISD 709 Secondary Schools (grades 6-12) will remain in Distance Learning for the start of Quarter 3. Teachers will continue to develop weekly modules aligned to state standards, provide feedback, assess, verify weekly attendance reports, and now there will be time to incorporate synchronous teaching and learning.
MODULE DAY ADJUSTMENT FOR SEMESTER 2:
Beginning Monday, January 25, with the first module of the semester, we will now be publishing the weekly modules every Monday. We have had overwhelming feedback from our students and teachers requesting this change. Modules will now be Monday at 9 am through Friday at midnight. We continue to have a one week grace period to submit work without penalty to the grade should students need the weekend to complete work.
SYNCHRONOUS TEACHING AND LEARNING:
Synchronous teaching and learning will be scheduled in 30 minute blocks with 3 class periods meeting per day- M, Tu, Th, F. Please see the schedule below for those times. All students will be encouraged to follow their class schedule and attend the Google Meet assigned for each class period. Study halls will not meet. Classes may offer additional Google Meet time for support and communication. Students will continue to mark their daily attendance in Infinite Campus.
Teachers will set up the links for their synchronous time and post them on the front page of each Canvas Classroom. They may also appear on the class calendar.
Teachers will be providing activities that are valuable to student learning during synchronous time. All materials needed and all assignments will still be found in the Canvas module. These 30 minute sessions may be new for some students and some teachers. Teachers always begin new semesters by reviewing class norms and routines. This semester that will include norms and routines for the new synchronous Google Meets. In addition to providing critical academic support, this opportunity to build relationships with teachers and classmates cannot be duplicated in a completely asynchronous model.
Sources of Strength: Physical Health / Medical Access
Happy New Year! A new year can mean a new start and goals that focus on our physical health. When we are sick or injured, we don’t have to stay in pain. We can get better with access to the medical care we need and deserve. Physical and social/emotional pain are often integrated and it is important to take care of our bodies, hearts and minds. Feeling good physically will boost our mental health! Which is why it is so important to eat healthy, get exercise, and stay engaged.
Conversation starters for you at home:
What is your plan to keep your body healthy in 2021?
How can we as a family show support for medical and mental health professionals?
When was a time you were grateful for medical access for yourself or someone you love?
Activities for you to do at home:
Practice mindful eating. Learn about nutrition and what makes your body strong
Make a family work out plan and see how long you can sustain your momentum
Make dental and annual medical appointments

ALL ATHLETES WHO TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID:
You will be required to follow the Return to Play Protocol. Your coach, the Activities Director, and our Athletic Trainers Jennie Koelling and Terry Hanson are here to support you through that process. You can find more information by reading the MSHSL's guidance.
There can be hidden impacts on your body that may put you at risk as you return to play. Evaluating each student athlete prior to play is critical for their health and safety. It starts with an appointment with your physician before spending 7 days being evaluated by the trainers. Student safety is our priority!
Stay safe Greyhounds!
