Thank You Everyone...
Staff:
I want to thank everyone for such an amazing transition back to school. Peter did an amazing job on Monday and all of you made the transition seamless – THANK YOU. The first week was filled with relationship building and team-building activities. Our students seemed very happy and settled in by the end of the week. This week we will begin to ease into the learning process. With that being said, be sure to collaborate with your grade-level curriculum partners to ensure there is parity within the learning. I have been holding off on the lesson planning template, because I want to review it with Team Leaders at our first meeting on September 9th. After I (we), make agreed upon adjustments to the process, I will make it available to all staff (focus on simplicity & usefulness). In addition, I am in the process of creating a one-stop CMS Google Resource Website. This will take the place of the shared Google Doc (and it will be much easier for everyone to access). I want to review it with Team Leaders before rolling it out - stay tuned.
I personally want to thank all of the teachers who have tweeted out the amazing things happening within their classrooms on Twitter. I know sometimes people are hesitant to post items, but please know it's the single best way to tell "Our Story". I get so many educators and parents commenting on the great things happening within our school - this creates our swag; this platform is so powerful. If you are uncomfortable with using your name, just use a generic name (like @mathteacherCMS) to get involved. The more we tell our story the greater momentum we create. That being said, please be sure to tag us on all of your tweets @CMS_Grizzlies and #CMSPride. Also can can create your own PLN (Professional Learning Network - more to come on that). I follow ten Rock Star innovative educators and it's like free PD all of the time. You can do that in your curriculum area as well. Give it a try!
Finally, we are now on Instagram as well. Peter and I will be using this platform to communicate directly with students through pictures and videos. We are doing a weekly one minute message to help set the tone for the upcoming week. You can follow us at CharltonMiddleSchool to follow along.
I hope you had an amazing Labor Day weekend and thanks for all that you do each and every day!

1. Within SchoolBrains, please use the Communication Log when referring to student needs. Keep your information brief and on point. This way everyone will have access to see what is happening. Guidance counselors and specialists can use the Guidance Log for service related activity.
2. Be sure to complete the Mandatory Employee Trainings – Must be completed by October 1, 2019. Click here to access the training (please meet this deadline and try to finish up early).
3. Be sure to use the new Frontline Management System for personal, professional and sick days. I will need to approve your personal and professional days; however, I don’t get notification if you are out sick. If you are out sick, please still send me a text or e-mail (whichever is easier for you – text is the easiest for me) my cell is: 5088871974. Click here for the Quick Employee Start Guide. All teachers were e-mailed their access information back in August. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
4. We have a new Maintenance Request System. If you need something from the custodians, please fill out the ticket information. I will have a button on the bottom of this e-mail. This way we can keep track of all our school-based needs. Thanks you your cooperation.
5. Please review all fire drill routes and emergency response planning procedures within the first week. At our first faculty meeting in September, we will review all this information and answer questions. We will be having our fire drill this week.
