WMES Parents/Guardians,
Happy Friday!! This week we celebrated our amazing staff for Teacher Appreciation Week with treats each day. Thank you to those families who have donated treats for Teacher Appreciation Week. Also, a huge shout out to our Grandparent's Club and our PTO for all their support.
Interims go home on May 9th. Please review with your child and contact your teacher should you have any questions.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our AMAZING mothers. We hope your day is special.
Students in grades 3-5 will participate in state standardized testing this spring in both ELA and Math. Please see the dates below for your child's grade level. Please try not to plan vacations during these testing dates. Please make sure your child is well-rested, eats a good breakfast, and is ready to show what they know on the test. All MCAP testing dates are outlined below for grades 3-5. Please take note of these scheduled testing dates for your child.
May 9 5th Grade 10:00 am
May 9, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17 3rd Grade 9:00 am
May 16, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24 4th Grade 9:00 am
I wanted to share a few important dates with you.
- June 7th - Last day for PreKindergarten.
- June 8th and 9th will be designated for Pre-K Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- June 10th - Last day (early dismissal) for students K-5 and last full day for staff.

Mark your calendars for our Field Day on May 25th and 26th! This will be an all-day event.. Families are welcome to attend. Safety protocols will be implemented for visitor check-in at this event. More information to come.

TCPS Out of Area Link
The OOA application process for school year 2022-2023 opened April 1st, if a parent is interested in out-of-area for the 2022-2023 school year, they must fill out the online application form. The application deadline is May 31st.

2022-2023 Registration Dates
Please call now to schedule an appointment to register Pre-K or Kindergarten aged students for the 2022-2023 school year. Students currently in Pre-K are already enrolled and will automatically be assigned to a Kindergarten classroom so there is nothing further parents need to do.

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program Now Available
Talbot County Department of Social Services is now administering the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), which provides up to $2,000 of financial relief toward water and/or wastewater bills for eligible households. This program is time-limited and will end on September 30, 2023 or when funds are exhausted, whichever occurs first.
Applications may be completed in hard copy and dropped off or mailed to Talbot County Department of Social Services, 301 Bay Street, Easton, MD 21601. We have a dropbox to the right of our front door, which may be used at any time. Applications may also be completed online at mymdthink.maryland.gov. More information may be obtained by calling 410-770-4848 and selecting option 4.

WMES PTO objective is to provide the students at WMES the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential in a stimulating environment through the cooperative interaction of parents, teachers, and community. Meetings occur once per month with an occasional added meeting depending on the month's events and needs. We strive to make this an effective, cohesive, and fun organization that works as a team! White Marsh Elementary School Career Day will be held Monday, June 6th, 2022 @ 9:15 am - 2:15 pm. We need YOU to bring learning alive @ WMES!!!!!
There is no better way to bring learning alive than to showcase how real moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, and friends use what they learned in school in their jobs every day! Please complete the attached form to participate in this year’s Career Day! Presentations should be 30-minutes, including time for students’ questions. Thank you!!

The Here Comes the Bus® App is available to parents of White Marsh Elementary School students! Here Comes the Bus® will allow you to:
View the real-time location of your child’s bus
Access the app from your smartphone, tablet or computer
Receive push notifications or email alerts
Send your child to the bus stop at just the right time, every time
How to get started:
Download the Here Comes the Bus app* or visit herecomesthebus.com.
Click the button.
Enter school code 87314 and click “Next” followed by “Confirm”
Complete the “User Profile” box.
Under “My Students,” click “Add.” Enter your child’s last name and student ID number. The student ID number can be found in the PowerSchool Parent Portal under the Bus Information tab. If you have not yet set up your PowerSchool Parent Portal, please do so using the instructions below. This will be necessary in order for you to access your child’s transportation information in the future.
Once you confirm your information, you’re ready to begin using Here Comes the Bus!
