Attendance
Research shows there is a high correlation between student attendance and student success. By ninth grade, attendance was shown to be a key indicator significantly correlated with high school graduation.4. The effects of lost school days build up one absence. Any absence, whether excused or not, denies students the opportunity to learn and stay on track with their peers. More information regarding school attendance can be found at National Center for Education Statistics.
Our average daily percentage has dropped 4% from the start of the year to now. The community has experienced a wide range of illnesses that is thankfully on the downward trend. Hopefully, March not only brings warmer weather but good health for all as well. Think about setting a goal with your student to not miss any more days of school unless absolutely necessary and role model to them the importance of good attendance. The number one person that benefits from good attendance is your student and we know that matters to both educators and parents alike! As always, if there are any barriers to good attendance, we want to know so we can help!
Thanks to our Community Club, we will be having a celebration for our 8th graders before they leave WMS. 8th Grade students who meet the following criteria will have the opportunity to attend this event

- No more than 5 lates to class

We will be tracking these things between March 4- April 26th.
