Digital Citizenship Lessons
We are excited to share a new program we are implementing this year with all KP students. As part of our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program, we recognize there is a need to educate your child about the safe and responsible use of technology. School counselors will be presenting a classroom lesson to 6th grade students and hosting team assemblies for 7th and 8th grade students.
6th grade students will participate in a classroom lesson during the month of October. 6th graders will also have four follow-up lessons presented in morning advisory. Upon completion of the classroom lesson, four follow-up lessons and a signed BYOD form by their parent/guardian, a student may receive their BYOD license and will be permitted to use their devices in school.
The schedule for the 7th & 8th grade team assemblies is as follows:
09/10 Amethyst team, 09/11 Garnet team, 09/17 Emerald team
09/18 Sapphire team, 09/21 Opal team and 09/24 Ruby team
Following the team assemblies, 7th and 8th grade students will participate in four follow-up lessons during their morning advisory. Upon completion of their participation in the team assemblies. morning advisory follow-up lessons and a signed BYOD form by their parent/guardian, a student may receive their BYOD license and will be permitted to use their devices in school.

Digital Citizenship Summit at Saint Joseph's University
WHEN: Saturday, October 3, 2015: All-day national conference focused on digital citizenship! Digital citizenship is the safe, savvy, and ethical use of technology. We have a broad range of topics focused on areas such as online reputation, empathy online, and proper social media use.
WHO: For the public! This first-of-its-kind summit is for YOU. We are bringing together educators, parents, administrators, students, organization leaders, and industry–all of the stakeholders focused on improving tech use. The event is co-founded by David Ryan Polgar and Marialice B.F.X. Curran. The Digital Citizenship Summit will feature a diverse range of prominent speakers leading workshops, a panel discussion on the future of digital citizenship, and valuable networking opportunities with leaders from across the country.
WHY: The Digital Citizenship Summit is designed to truly push the conversation forward. By bringing together leading voices and interested citizens from every corner of the country we will be able to amplify the message and create change. We need YOU and your voice. Our focus is on improving education towards digital citizenship, and empowering users.
