THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Small minds discuss people

Week In Review
Saturday was our first competition. After a rehearsal in the afternoon, the band headed to Boyertown! They had a solid show and returned home with a score of 72.35 and a first place trophy! This was definitely a great way to start our competitive season! We would like to thank Dr. Ziegler and Mrs. Williams for joining us at our first show! The band is always appreciative of the support from the Music Department and school Administration.
You should be proud of your first competitive performance. Let's keep this momentum going as we head to West Chester East this weekend!
Schedule for this Week
Each middle school band member will receive a coupon for a hot dog and a beverage. Marching Band members should bring money for the concession stands, as usual. It is important that you are a GREAT “buddy” for your Middle School band students. It is important that they have a positive experience and that they leave the game considering joining the marching band when they get to the high school. Please be respectful and a GREAT host. You have always been outstanding at this event, and all the district band directors expect you to do the same this year.
REMINDER: NO food or drink is allowed in the stands. You must finish all refreshments BEFORE returning to the stands.
Pick-up time on Friday is 10:15 PM.
SATURDAY: Report time - 12:15 PM. PLEASE eat before coming to practice. We will practice from 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM. Following practice you will have approximately 1 hour to pack, load equipment, eat something, get dressed, and load the bus. Please bring something to eat with you when you come at 12:15 PM, as there will not be enough time to order out. You may not leave campus for food. We MUST leave at 5:00 PM SHARP! We will go dressed in halves. We will NOT have the opportunity to change clothes after our performance. Chaperone Report time is 4:00 PM. Our performance time is 8:00 PM. Awards are at 9:05 PM. Please bring money for dinner. We hope to utilize the concession stands after awards.
Pick-up time back at PGHS is 11:45 PM.
SUNDAY - Sunday is going to be a GREAT day. Many of us have been looking forward to this day since last year. Report time will be 9:30 AM. We will need to leave PGHS by 9:45 AM Sunday morning to get to Allentown early in order to get good seats. The show starts at 12:00 Noon. The last band is scheduled to perform at 5:30 PM.
Please note: this is a rain or shine event and there are no refunds for tickets. Pick-up time will be 7:00 PM. We will use cell phones to call if we are earlier. Any band member who ordered tickets for the Collegiate Marching Band Festival should pay for their ticket by THURSDAY. Please place your money in an envelope with the student’s name and “College Band Show” written on the outside of the envelope.

In addition to local performances, the ensemble has had several opportunities to perform on the national stage. Over the past ten years, the band has participated in Washington DC's Cherry Blossom Parade, the Bridgeport Education Holiday Bowl (San Diego, CA), and the Miss America Parade (Atlantic City, NJ). In December, the band will make its first appearance at the 2015 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, GA.
