Hello Hilltopper Families!
Report cards are going home today and I am so proud of how hard our students have worked this quarter. With so many distractions around them, they continue to persevere and grow!
Our students are enjoying reading “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!” The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement as our dedicated teachers have created an array of engaging activities. Each day brings a new layer of wonder to our literary journey of the World of Wonka-daily trivia, colorful doors and bulletin boards, guessing games and invigorating brain breaks.
At the end of each day, one lucky class earns the opportunity to visit the Chocolate River Reading Room. There, they immerse themselves in the “wonkatastic” atmosphere, taking a moment to "Stop, Drop, and Read” while snacking on a magical lollipop off the Lollipop Tree (thank you PTO). The air is buzzing with the infectious enthusiasm of all things WONKA at Park. It is truly heartwarming to witness our students eagerly discussing the happenings of each upcoming chapter.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee

🐾 PARK PETS! 🐾
Each week, we will spotlight a different staff member and their beloved furry, feathery, or scaly pet, sharing heartwarming stories, fun facts and adorable photos. It's a wonderful way to get to know our team on a more personal level and celebrate the joy that pets bring to our lives. Who can resist the charm of a wagging tail or a purring friend? We hope you enjoy meeting the beloved pets of our Park staff!
Stay Tuned!
*Summer school tentative dates: weeks of June 3, 10, and 17, with third grade testing the following week. Testing is only for those that haven't passed the required score for the AIR test. More information will come soon!*
Students were able to explore the book fair this week and not only immersed themselves in the world of literature but also acquired valuable real-world skills. It was all about communication. They practiced decision-making by evaluating various options and considering their interests and preferences. They used their negotiation skills to discuss book choices with peers. Budgeting skills were honed as they allocated their funds to purchase books and learned the importance of managing resources responsibly. Additionally, they communicated with our wonderful parent volunteers who handled their transactions at the book fair!

IMPORTANT- BLIZZARD BAGS
Since we have reached our 5th calamity day, we want to inform you about our Blizzard Bag Plan for Park Elementary which went home on February 9th. We are providing Blizzard Bags to your child in the event of inclement weather resulting in a school closure. This will enable your child to continue their learning at home. These bags will contain TWO DAYS WORTH of assignments and activities which align with their current curriculum. Your child's teacher will provide instructions and we encourage you to engage with your child in completing these assignments to ensure continuity in their education. As for the specials classes, complete ONLY the activity for the special the child has on that calamity day. You will have 10 school days to complete each day's Blizzard Bag assignments. For example, if we have a snow day on March 1, the bag would be due on March 15th. We appreciate your support in making learning a collaborative effort, even on snow days. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
