CES Families please let's stay SAFE!
Dear CES Families,
During dismissal, the atmosphere is bustling with parents collecting their children, students boarding buses, and walkers heading home. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring safety during this busy time, particularly when crossing the street with your child. Kindly remember to look both ways before moving from the car pick-up area to the parking lot.
It has come to our attention that some parents are walking between buses with their children, which poses a safety hazard. Please be mindful that the bus loop is a busy area, and bus drivers may not immediately see pedestrians walking directly in front of the buses.
Our priority is to maintain the safety of both you and our students. Even when your children are by your side, their safety remains paramount. Thank you immensely for your cooperation in this matter.

WE WON'T STOP LET'S MOVE AMIRA USAGE TO THE TOP!
Attention CES Families,
We kindly urge you to motivate your children to engage in AMIRA practice sessions at home. Please find the attached document for an overview of recent updates and the advantages your child gains from using AMIRA. In a delightful initiative, Ms. Matthews granted the opportunity for students with the highest AMIRA usage in grades K-2 to tape her to the wall! Needless to say, the students were overjoyed! This demonstrates the extent of my commitment to supporting our students' growth, parents! Let's actively participate and inspire our students to utilize AMIRA to its fullest potential.
Thank you,
We're ALL IN for this! BCPS proudly introduces the slogan, "Here For It," inspiring our students to show up for school every day! Did you know there's a Maryland State Attendance requirement? It's crucial for your child to maintain an attendance rate of at least 94% throughout the school year. We understand the challenges of flu season and the ongoing presence of COVID, and if your child isn't feeling well, we encourage you to prioritize their health.
However, it's proven that students with high attendance percentages tend to be more successful. So, if your child can attend, please ensure their presence.
In case your child needs to be absent, kindly provide a note—whether handwritten or through email. Submitting written documentation helps us keep accurate records. Remember, not all absences are considered lawful. Let's make every school day count!

Nurse Updates
Spring is here which means so are allergies and Asthma flare - ups... If your child has asthma, I highly recommend that you make sure you have an inhaler at school. This requires also having an order from the doctor for it. We have already seen a lot of allergies this season. Please stay on top of this as home as there is not much we can do at school. If Benadryl is needed for allergies the student would need to be picked up right away.
Covid Updates
BCPS is now following the new CDC guidelines. This means there is no longer a mandatory isolation period and instead anyone with Covid is recommended to treat it like any other respiratory illness and stay home until their fever is gone for 24 hours and symptoms have started to improve.
Masks will no longer be required upon return. Those who have had covid are encouraged to avoid close contact when they are able to do so and to wear a well-fitting mask.
Upcoming Solar Eclipse:
On April 8th the United States will experience a partial solar eclipse. While Maryland will not fall under a direct path of the solar eclipse the state will experience a partial eclipse beginning around 2:05 pm and peaking around 3:20 pm. It is only safe to look at the sun during this time with special glasses. Please remind your students not to look at the sun on April 8th.
The PTA is in need of 2-4 board members in order to stay in compliance. Anyone who feels called to volunteer or assist please reach out to Secretary Ariela Rinard @ thecedarmerepta@gmail.com or text @ 443-632-4241.
