Planning Learning 2013-14
Planning for next year including key dates
Scheme of Learning 2013-14
Planning for learning starts here!
Teams should start working on their schemes of learning ready for completion by end of June and review in the first week of July. The Edge calendar is included in the Google docs folder so that you can plan activities to fit in with cross college themes e.g. equality and diversity, respect for the individual
Planning assessment as a team
Work together as a team to plan assessments during the year. Invite your current students to feedback their experience of the timing of assessments this year. Assessment plans must also be completed by 28th June. Guidance on assessment plans are also in the Google docs folder 'Planning Learning 2013-14'.
How do your students learn best?
Plan your scheme of learning to include development of students skills and subject knowledge. Professor Guy Claxton calls this 'Split Screen Learning', whilst Geoff Petty warns against the 'Content Trap'. This is where your scheme of learning focuses only on content and not on the development of Bloom's higher order thinking skills .e.g. analysis, synthesis and evaluation
Department Assessment Plans
Assessment Plan Guidance Notes
On Google docs in the shared folder titled Planning Learning 2013-14, there are guidance notes on producing assessment plans for your department. This will include you making decisions about whether to use Google, Moodle or paper based assessments. Every department must have an assessment plan for their courses. These must be completed by 28th June 2013.
