First big battle in history ended in a tie after merrimac quit with days of sharing fire.
Fort Sumter attacked Charleston, South Carolina, April 1861
President Lincoln decides to give supplies to fort Sumter. But also wants the south to have the first shot.
Bull Run (Manassas) 1st battle Northern Virginia, July 21, 1861
General McDowell lead just about 30,000 men against General Johnston's 22,000 southern troops in attempt to sneak on the rebels.
Bull Run (Manassas) 2nd battle Northern Virginia, August 1862
General McClellan was replaced by General Pope. Lee and General Stonewall Jackson to soon defeat the Union troop not once but twice at massacre.
Vicksburg Mississippi, July 1863
After a long battle The town of Vicksburg gave up to General Grant. The Mississippi river was under control of the union.
Gettysburg July 1863, Pennsylvania
A little over 165,000 soldiers took part in the biggest battle in the Western Hampshire. The three day General go to plan more leaving 4,000 of the confederates soldiers dead.
Atlanta to Savannah September-December 1864, Georgia
General Sherman leaves Atlanta a mess and then sends his soldiers 300 miles to march at sea. The railroads were torn up, buildings destroyed and crops burned all of this was to break the south.
