October is always a busy month. Please remember to take time to rest and take care of yourself. Taking time to prepare thoroughly is a great way to proactively manage stress. Being prepared or over-prepared is a good thing!

Please show your support for our school by joining our PTA. Currently, we have 20 staff who are members. Our goal is 100% of staff. Membership is $5 and forms are available in the mailroom.

Micro Headlines
Please remind our students to be on their best behavior in the lunch line. There have been issues with noise levels and we have had two student related injuries in the lunch line.
A former JCPS teacher, Amanda Kates, has been approved to conduct a research project through her position at NC State with JCPS. Her research goal is to formulate ways to improve teacher math preparation. Please complete her survey. The data will help her but it could also identify opportunities for Micro Elementary. Final grades for the first quarter need to be uploaded by 5:00 pm on 10/21/2019. Grades will be stored on October 22nd.
October 21st and February 17th will now be regular school days.

Grant Money Available: NC Beautiful. Visit the website www.ncbeautiful.org under "Programs", choose "Windows of Opportunity Grants for Teachers" for details to apply for this grant.....the cycle ends November 30, 2019 so there is plenty of time. Awards will be made in January, 2020.
For first quarter progress reports we will send home data reports such as: Math EOG reports, MAP reports, Lexia reports, iStation reports, etc. We are not sending home PowerSchool Progress Reports.
- We still have time to have teams sign up for the Johnston County Education Foundation Adult Spelling Bee! This year's bee will now be held on October 29th, 2019 at 5:30 PM at Smithfield-Selma High School. The funds from the event support JCEF, which provides scholarships for students and grants for teachers in Johnston County Public Schools. Since the foundation's inception, more than a million dollars has benefited the students and teachers in Johnston County. Contact TJ Parrish if you would like to head up the Micro team.

Ed Camp Joco will be held on October 19th from 8-12:00 at WJHS. It will be a fun-filled morning of professional learning. It will be a great opportunity for networking and sharing. Sign up here!
